I was watching part of the American comedy thing on PBS last night, and they did a segment on "All in the Family." I don't remember much of it when it was orignally on, though we watched it all the time, but there were many good parts. After the segment, they did a segue to "The Bill Cosby Show," and they showed a bit of a talk by Cosby where he said "Archie Bunker never apologized for the things he said," in such a way that it seemed he disapproved of that.

And I'm thinking, "Archie would not apologize. He'll change, reluctantly and slowly, but he won't apologize. He's not there to apologize, he's there to be the object lesson on bigotry and stupidity."

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

If Cos was looking to Archie Bunker for remorse and political correctness, he was letting himself in for a lifetime of disappointment.

I couldn't stand "The Cosby Show", it was too treacly.

Early Cosby Show was good, if a bit derivative of his comedy routines at first. The kids were well-cast, and Cosby was able to riff off of them, especially the youngest ones. I remember the ep where the youngest, can't remember if it was Rudy or Olivia, had a bunch of age-mates over and Cliff was having to entertain them by giving them rides on his bouncing knee, and the kids were obviously having a ball, and he was having just as much fun as they were as they bounced all over the place.

Imememenews, I am soooo hungry right now! I have another 20 minutes before I can go to the cafeteria for lunch, and my headache is rapidly building to "I have to eat immediately" levels.

This is a pretty cool idea--Chicago Anytime Assistants will do anything you might need, from waiting for the cable guy to picking up your laundry or doing some shopping for you. That link will give you a discount.
