'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Oh no, the personalities are there in the pictures if you know what to look for -- though I agree, a lot of expression is in the way they move and vocalize at this age.

I'm just so frustrated that Grace is still in the hospital at this point, but it's clear that she's thriving as much as possible.

Our wings are not tired.

But they are such little people!

Late with the happy birthday wishes. People call the 2s terrible, but I didn't think 2 was terrible at all! It was when the boys were 2 that we began to communicate on levels that was impossible when they were babies. They become more little people with new abilities to make their personalities and opinions known. It is an awesome age.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I was talking with another parent at the playground yesterday and he used the phrase "coming online" to describe this age (18m+), which I thought was perfect.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I still like the term "twoberty."

Also, "Dylan Zaphod Alter" is an anagram for "Alpha Zany Toddler." I think Dylan wins at anagram.

Timelies all!

Quiet day here. Gonna run a few errands.

hip deep in pie

I was up early trying to making a lemon meringue pie for a barbecue I am going to this afternoon. Major piepocalypse! when I mistook the bowl of egg whites for the bowl of lemon juice. (damn coloured bowls!) I almost just gave up, but decided what the hey, and continued on. The raw lemon curd alone didn't taste too bad, but we'll see.

Also, was using recipe from America's Test Kitchen Family Baking Cookbook, which I swear, was the one I used a couple of weeks ago, but it was different. I guess I must have used the one in Best Recipe.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Mmm...lemon meringue pie!

In daytime TV news, last week Ellen had MC Hammer on, and they were talking about going through hard times, and she kept saying "losing everything," and he kept saying, "No, I never lost everything -- I always had my family, my true friends, etc." I think it's a nice point, although probably hard to remember.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I've got the Ick. Par for the course - I take a random three-day weekend and come down with a nasty bout of something. I knew this was coming on Friday when my voice started sounding like Mercedes McCambridge in THE EXORCIST and developed a persistent dry cough. Well, it's not such a dry cough now, and my nose has started leaking like the Titanic. Meh. Granted, the weather is craptastic today, but I really wanted to do SOMETHING besides nesting indoors.
