Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
You people are applying logic to these shows. Why can't you just accept them for their unintentional comedy value.
History channel, Kathy. Last night they aired one on Krakatoa and a very dry desert whose name I forget.
Sigh. My Monday ER visit did break the back of that migraine, but I'd really like to feel well again, you know? Really pain-free. Pain management guy this morning. I am trying not to get tense about it beforehand. But the chances he actually discussed pain management with my migraine guy seem slim. I'm sure he'll want to do another procedure in a few weeks.
Gud, I don't know if you're an SGU fan or not, but they did an interview with Yau-Man Chan a while back where they talked about ghost hunting shows and how absurd they are. (Yau-Man's day job is designing and building those kinds of scientific instruments, so he's able to go into hilarious detail about exactly how stupid it is to interpret a reading you don't understand on an instrument you don't know how to use as proof of paranormal activity.)
I'm a regular SGU downloader, it's a good podcast.
ita, I hopepain management guy has talked to migraine guy.
Uhg, craziness at work.
For that matter, I DO believe in UFOs -- that there are unexplained flying objects (or at least sky phenomenon) that are out there. I just don't believe they're aliens.
Yeah, I've seen a UFO, but my assumption is it was some kind of helicopter with an unfamiliar light pattern. As opposed to Tars Tarkas stopping by for a visit.

That's just what the alien governments want you to think.
All those fit young men sweating under the south Pacific sun. In and, if it was hot enough, maybe a little bit out of uniform. Mmmmmmm.
World War II as a vehicle for teh hot gay sex. Isn't there a whole genre of movies on this? And if not, why not?
About the only thing I miss about cable is Dirty Jobs and MythBusters.
Discovery's Surprise: Did Bat Hitch a Ride to Space?
I would tend to think if the bat didn't just let go, it would have lost its grip when the shuttle went supersonic, but....
The bat, seen clinging to the external fuel tank of the Space Shuttle Discovery before its launch on Sunday, apparently clung for dear life to the side of the tank as the spaceship lifted off.
And what a ride.
The shuttle accelerates to an orbital velocity of 17,500 milers per hour, which is 25 times faster than the speed of sound, in just over eight minutes. That's zero to 100 mph in 10 seconds.
Did it make it into space? No one knows yet. But photos of Discovery as it cleared the launch tower showed a tiny speck on the side of the tank. When those photos were blown up, it became apparent that the speck was a bat.
Flight director Paul Dye said no one has seen the bat since.
"I heard that it was clinging to the tank at liftoff, but I don't think anyone has seen it since," he said.
Launch controllers spotted the bat after it had clawed onto the foam of the external tank as Discovery stood at Cape Canaveral's Launch Pad 39A.
