Crappity. I will not cry. I have three classes to get through, this is not the time!
Stupid backlash emotions. All lunch I was calm, and NOW I get upset. Over something totally minor and dumb, just so nobody worries that I killed a kid or anything.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

Oooh, I need to get some soda bread.
Apparently Savannah has the second-largest St. Patrick's Day celebration (after New York, I guess?)
I wonder how many places claim that.
Emily, you do know how fantastic and wonderful you are, right? And that this too shall pass? Fer realz.
There's a good Jewish deli up here in Northbrook (they moved here from Skokie) that has the best extra lean corned beef. I love to stop by there and get a sandwich if I'm driving by, usually after my dentist appointment down the street. Otherwise, I try and avoid it--it has a Dairy Queen on one side and a bakery on the other. Too much temptation to get a sandwich!
Ugh, Emily. I am confident you will be OK. Deep breaths, etc.
I should have had a Reuben for lunch, but by the time I thought of it, I had already ordered something else. Oh well.
I had BK.
Daylight savings time is really jacking with me. I used to use the daily lunch conversation in here to make me vaguely start thinking about lunch. By the time I was actually arsed to make any, it was actually lunchtime.
But now suddenly I'm hungry for lunch every day at 9:00am. Which is not on.
I had leftover tacos, just like yesterday. My taco supply is now gone.
I like St. Patrick's Day, because I wear my kilt and people wear green. I don't go out, so I don't see the drunkenness.
This is me!
I love St. Patrick's Day because I love reading Seamus Heaney poems to my class and I love doing a brief overview (for my mostly immigrant kids) about white people immigrating and facing the same level of gross discrimination and their ultimate assimilation. I love wearing green pants or my green docs. I like corned beef (but no cabbage, thanks anyway) and I love celebrating the sput and I adore Soda Bread. I like chocolate cupcakes made with stout.
As far as holidays go, this is one of my favorites as it requires no purchase of gifts, nor hallmark cards, nor the roasting of a turkey.

Can't you just get with the daylight saving program??

So, I'm reading a mystery book that takes places in Olden Tymes New York, and includes several families where the fathers are Chinese and the mothers are Irish -- from the time when Chinese women were not allowed to immigrate. I wonder about the real history there. (I mean, I'm sure it happened, but wonder about the details and how common it was.) But maybe not enough to actually do the research!
