It's all about choices, Faith. The ones we make, and the ones we don't. Oh, and the consequences. Those are always fun.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I'm familiar with the terms. What I'm trying to say (apparently badly) is that there were openly gay Episcopal priests before Robinson. He's the first one of them to be elevated to Bishop, however.

Robinson always makes a point that he's the first OPENLY gay bishop -- he insists there have been many gay bishops serving for years and that the change here is the honesty. And who could object to honesty?

He's a great man.

Our wings are not tired.

javachik, I can't get that address to find anything. Is it through tivo.com's website, or is it a different site?

Oh! Sorry. You're right. Go to Tivo.com, and you'll see a tab on the top right that says "My Tivo".

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

UPS says they left the package "with apartment 9." So it's in my stairwell at least, if not exactly in front of my apartment. Whew!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think all of the Episcopalian priests I know are lesbians. But they all took the collar after Gene Robinson, I'd assume. I still don't think he was the first openly gay priest.

Also, I just had lunch with an old friend I haven't seen in a million years, and he reminded me of the most hilarious thing that's happened to anyone we went to high school with (and that's including Ben and J-Lo): we went to school with Michelle NdegeOcello's wife!

This is pretty interesting--a photographer was doing a photo project on couples in America back in 1996, and included a young African-American couple in Chicago.

There is a strong possibility that Barack will pursue a political career, although it’s unclear. There is a little tension with that. I’m very wary of politics. I think he’s too much of a good guy for the kind of brutality, the skepticism.

Robinson wasn't ordained bishop all that long ago -- 2004. At that time I knew several openly gay Episcopal priests.

I suppose Robinson could have been openly gay before they were... Robinson was ordained a priest in '73 (but not an openly gay one -- he was married) and got together with his current partner in '87. So it was some time in the eighties that he began or joined the ranks of openly gay Episcopal priests.
