Jayne: What're you gonna tell the others? Mal: About what? Jayne: About why I'm dead. Mal: Hadn't thought about it. Jayne: Make something up. Don't tell 'em what I did.

yep - that would have been much more fun than what we ended up doing which was video games at the theater and then renting a Pokemon movie.

sarameg, I love following along on the house tale! So exciting.

Does anyone else feel proud?

Little bit, yeah.

I may have date next weekend. Ummmm

That flew right under the radar, people? Well, OK, I won't be nosy. Just... if so, I hope it's fun.

I had a long day at work and am glad to be home. Am contemplating making some hot chocolate. Actually, it's this drinking chocolate stuff, and it's really good. Not super sweet, but really rich and chocolatey. Overpriced, but, every once in a while...

sarameg, if you're looking for good book boxes, try your local B&N or Borders--we toss out more boxes every day then you need for your entire move. Actually, those boxes are good for packing everything, since they're so sturdy. Also, the ones I've used in the past from Borders/Waldenbooks are perfectly sized for putting four standard-sized hardcovers on one level. I've fit up to 24 books that size in each box before.

As for weight, make sure you rent a dolly from the local rental shop, unless you have a walkup currently. Then, you just have to stack the boxes up and wheel them down!

sarameg -- Pack boxes halfway with books, and fill the rest with towels, blankets, clothes you won't want in the next month or so, pillows, etc. Last time I moved, I think 75% of my boxes were labeled "books & ____"

Tonight I watched some S2 Angel, and learned that I have the exact same table lamp that's in Lilah's apartment. And then I watched about 10 minutes of Buck Rogers and learned that in the future there'll be an Olympic sport that involves slipping down an inclined tightrope backward. TV is so educational.

J peeps, represent! Brunch - best meal of all the meal slots; great for dates, parties, and celebrations of all kinds, or no special reason at all. Huge fan of the brunch.

Kathy, thank you! There is a B&N just up the road from me! I remember the book boxes from when I worked as a temp filling a new Waldenbooks way back when. Perfect boxes.

I am so hiring movers, though. I have one too many heavy/unwieldy pieces of furniture. And maybe just 3, but...I've helped friends move themselves. I hated it. Not doing it to them. (Except maybe my precious stuff and cats and that isn't unwieldy. Except for the puker/pooper. I'll transport him myself.)

If you're hiring movers, don't worry so much about the weight. Those guys can load up sooo much on their backs with no problem! I remember being blown away when I saw this little older guy (must have been 5'5" and 60plus years old) taking three of my very heavy book boxes on his back and carrying them down two flights of stairs without using the strap that the other two (young) guys were using. They were in awe as much as I was!

I've had movers every time other than the first, and it is so worth it.

When I moved two years ago, I put Amarna in the carrier when the movers showed up and listened to her bitch for the three hours it took them to load everything up. Then, after I got her up here, I turned her loose in the bathroom and shut her in. She complained about that, too, but at least it was better than the carrier.
