'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

You know, I probably can't name the years I acquired any of my clothes except for a handful, like the shoes I got in January, which are fresh in my mind. Which when you consider that I'm a slow & deliberate shopper who doesn't impulse-buy a whole lot, would seem contradictory.

Maybe I just don't time-bind well.

hip deep in pie

I am trying to cut down on the number of clothes I buy too, but sometimes I slide. I have just gained enough weight this winter that some of my pants are uncomfortable to wear, so what I really need to do is lose that winter weight and a whole area of wardrobe opens back up for me.

Now tagless for your comfort.

My Zappos delivery should happen this morning! Does anyone else listen for their doorbell when they hit the "submit" button on Zappos?

Were I to put a ban on clothes-buying, I think I'd except underwear and tights/socks/pantyhose, because that stuff really does WEAR OUT. Unless I had like an excessive number of those already....

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Mine left Oakland this morning, so I probably won't get them until Monday, but I ordered them fairly late in the day.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

lisa, either the wknd of 28/29 or 4/5.

I find it a bit odd how I can remember when I acquired most of my clothes. They are tied to people and event memories for me. I know who was with me when I got these pants and where I was going the day I got the cardigan. The shoes, I know the specific store, but can only place it by time because of a friend that really liked the shoes at the time.

I think when July comes around again, I will extend the purchase ban for at least another 6 months. For the life I live I have a ridic amount of clothes. I am also culling as I do this, wearing things that rarely get worn and deciding if they should get donated - a bag of work clothes is getting donated on Sunday.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I just got a couple of catalogs in the mail this week, and the styles are so unflattering -- sort of shapeless, tunic-y things that seem very 80s to me -- that I think I'll find it easy to not buy any new clothes in the near future.

What's the last thing that made you smile?

Just the mention of Peanut Butter Jelly Time.
