Actually, I don't think the BOC/Patti Smith connection is all that weird. A bunch of their early lyrics were written by Richard Meltzer, and their early albums have a distinctly smart-ass/poetic bent that's only a few shades of irony away from Patti Smith's early work.

I was momentarily confused that you were talking about Naveen and BH. I always forget that Viggo is as old as he is. Also, Exene has been on my cultural radar longer than Viggo.
I recently saw Witness again, and boy, does Viggo look like a baby there!

Viggo only got on my cultural radar as Exene's new man. Then he dropped off again for a very long time.
Exene was on my radar back in high school -- I *loved* X. I had no idea who Viggo was until LotR, or possibly that thriller he did with Gwyneth Paltrow and Michael Douglas.
To me, Viggo will always be the blouse man.
Although I'd seen him other things without really registering his presence, Viggo really made his big impression on me out-creeping Walken in THE PROPHECY.

I saw A Walk on the Moon after seeing FotR, and as good as Viggo is in it, I liked Diane Lane and Liev Schrieber better. Oh, and Tovah Feldshuh was terrific.

Yeah, that made quite an impression on me. I didn't think it was possible.
