Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
I feel like Bruce Springsteen is highway driving music.
Johnny Cash, too, obviously, but which ones? This is the problem.
Route 66.
Born in the USA is the Springsteen album imprinted on me by my father.
Of Cash, also Ring of Fire? I want to sing along in the car, so I guess that's my criterion.
The Springsteen songs I would most want to sing along with in a car would be Rosalita, [link]
or Thunder Road [link]
or Spirits in the Night [link]
Road to Nowhere, [link]
On the Road Again. I know it's on the nose, but it's also classic.
Similarly, Roger Miller's "King of the Road." [link]
I'd also say Red Sovine is a must, though there are a lot of his songs that are appropriate.
Not road themed, but the Crystals are fun to sing along with and "Da Do Run Run" will get your foot tapping on the accelerator: [link]

Similarly, Roger Miller's "King of the Road." [link]
I think both of these were on the Route 66 mixtape CD I made for our Christmas trip (since left in another rental car somewhere), which I believe is behind my cousin's request. That was our favorite of the bunch. "Road to Nowhere" is really the ultimate driving song.
But keep the suggestions coming. You are all giving me lots of good ideas.
