My French cousin has requested classic American roadtrip music for our next cross-country odyssey. So I want to put together a playlist that is at least a couple of hours. Preferably from stuff I have or can easily get from the library. Ideas for specific songs that fit that bill?

Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
The Modern Lovers—"Roadrunner"
Tom Scola, that was my very first thought, too!!
Note: Songs do not have to have "driving" as a theme, just a beat and something you could sing along to (though we won't actually be singing). Like the first thing I thought of was "New York Groove" though I suppose that does talk about driving now that I think about it.
Kraftwerk - Autobahn. That's over 20 minutes right there. ;)

I think my sister would kill me. I don't think we've ever recovered by my brother's electronic days.
Brigitte Bardot—"Harley Davidson"
Unsurprisingly, I already own this.
Eels Mr. E's Beautiful Blues is a perfect driving singalong song: [link]
