Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Now I'm listening to Michelle Shocked's Short Sharp Shocked, another album that I liked 20 years ago but only got around to buying just 20 minutes ago.

I loved Arkansas Traveler in college, and now I feel the need to listen to it again.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Interesting article, but not sure what I could add to it. Compared to the instruments in the video, my ordinary theremin is, well, ordinary.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I LOVE the vid, for sure. But what does "shredding" mean in this context, I had the idea that it just meant playing the guitar really hard and really fast...?

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

There's a whole series of videos that one or more jokers unknown have overdubbed with godawfully bad playing that more or less syncs up with the screens. They all use the title "____ Shreds!"

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Have you ever thought to yourself: Hey, Goth and Girl Groups are two great flavors that go great together?

Then you'd like Black Tears by Miss Derringer. ("Black tears through eyeliner for you...")

That's famed Juxtapoz artist, Elizabeth McGrath, as the lead singer.

See her Beautiful and disturbing work here.

Also, dig the corset and clothes porn of her rockabilly song Better Run Away From Me

Speaking of Gothy things, The Edwardian Ball is this weekend - bigger than ever. It's getting to be quite the signal event.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
