As a regular reader of Alex Pareene, I'm fairly certain it's meant as a joke.
Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
He doesn't really offer any evidence to support his claim, I'm not sure if it was meant to be a joke or not.
Well, Breitbart did cite Cobain's suicide and self-destruction as the moment he realized his parents were right about... something.
Must have been nice, growing up in a happy bubble of privilege, unable to see the systemic issues of poverty and class that informed Cobain's life and death, and just seeing someone who made it big and offed himself.
(Weirdly, reading the quote from him on it yesterday provided me with a lot of clarity around the POV of people like that.)
Are there any Toad the Wet Sprocket fans here?
I'm trying to figure out what year that band played Northern Illinois University on a September 13th.
I figure it was most likely '92 or '93 but cannot find any actual facts. (I've got a bunch of buttons that I want to send to the archive and it would be better if I had a year as well as a day and month!)
