And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Huh. I was wondering what Laika Studios was going to do after Coraline...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I don't know the answer to that question either, JZ, but you also might ask DXM and Victor, neither of whom are here any more, but who have interests along those lines. DXM I know loved Nicky's playing. (Am I allowed to say his name?)

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

(Am I allowed to say his name?)

I don't see why not (don't forget to ask your local library to order a copy!).

Hec just sent me an awesomely comprehensive list; now I just need to pick through it and hunt down all the "Contact Us" info for each.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Actually, that's a good reminder. I just placed requests to my library for more of Deb's catalog and Sam the Bat, but I hadn't done Julian's.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Did the Freshies just rename the song from "I'm In Love With The Girl On The Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout Desk" to be "I'm In Love With The Girl On A Certain Manchester Megastore Checkout Desk", or did they actually redub or re-record the song with new lyrics?

Where did you see/hear the latter?

t edit Nevermind. Wikipedia says this:

"Their biggest selling single and best known song is 1980's "I'm In Love With The Girl On The Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout Desk" renamed as "I'm In Love With The Girl On A Certain Manchester Megastore Checkout Desk" on request from Radio 1 (a version with "Virgin" bleeped out to allow it to be played on the radio without being considered advertising was also released)"

I see the latter on iTunes, and I just want to make sure it's the same song as the former.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Hmmm.. but then there's this, which definitely has rerecorded lyrics.
