Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.
Hi, Mirrorface!
Nice to exaggerated wink "meet" you, too, Laga.
Hey, Scrap!
My beloved Bouncing Souls are doing four night stands of album shows -- night one is the first two albums, night two the second two, etc.
Their singer Greg, who is usually more like this, [link] (even when not playing acoustically and screwing up the chorus) was like this [link] the other night... which was just about completely fucking epic.
In this version he passes right over the camera and you can see my friends and I sort of losing it (:45-:50) as he gets pulled back on stage by their guitar tech/keyboard player DJ and tries to tackle their bassist, Bryan [link]
I got to see one show in Boston and all four nights in NYC. Its been fantastic. I'm doing it one more time this week in Philly. So far any injuries have been minor but, hey, I have health insurance. It makes me very bold. Not stage diving myself bold, but I sort of laugh when I get kicked in the face because as I reach for whatever just got nailed to check for blood I think, "Hey! I've got health insurance!" Not very punk rock to be sure, but I gotta be me.
Its fun watching the choreography change as the nights go on. There is a two-step we call the "dancey-dance" Greg does that apparently didn't start until the fourth album. Once these shows are over and they're back to playing regular sets I'll be interested to see if those early songs get the dancey-dance when they're mixed in with later era songs.
The Street Tom Waits Grew Up On
Heh! That's actually not too far off from the sailor neighborhood he worked in as a teenager in San Diego. He worked at a pizza parlor, across the street from a tattoo parlor and squeezed in between a Mexican cinema and a Chinese restaurant.
According to someone on Tumblr, MCR did an interview on Radio One the other day wherein they said they were recording a new album. I have not been able to find any information about this (but I'll admit I haven't done obsessive searching). Has anyone else seen this rumor?
They've "already started writing music" according to this. Which, I swear, they always are doing. It doesn't sound like 'we're recording' so much as 'we're musical dudes' to me. But I never say no to more music from them.
It's good for them to get started on the album they'll discard (since DD was the second time, doesn't anyone remember the Toro-bus studio?) so they can get on to making the next actual album.
