Why do I think you are not exactly sadface about this turn of events?
'The Message'
There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

I've finished the comp. I'll leave it up 'til Jan 6. Feel free to grab it. I just ask that you not distribute the files or link elsewhere as I want to keep my ahem'ing on the down low.

I can't say any of those covers particularly grab me, except for maybe the Mark Ronson one. Someone in the comments linked to some other cool art mashups: [link]
I really like "Knock Out Eileen".
I'm liking "Enter Telephone" (Gaga/Metallica) and "Jump You Fucker" (Van Halen/ Ceee Lo).
"Knock Out Eileen" and "Enter Telephone" were both quite popular at the house this morning. Listening to "Jump You Fucker" right now (AIFG)!
I find the ones I like most are the ones where I'm familiar with all the sources. So much of the enjoyment of mashups is that ooooh! moment where you marvel at how well the pieces blend.
"Imagine A Jump" (Van Halen vs. John Lennon) is pretty great, although not exactly Bootie material.
