Buffista Music 4: Needs More Cowbell!

There's a lady plays her fav'rite records/On the jukebox ev'ry day/All day long she plays the same old songs/And she believes the things that they say/She sings along with all the saddest songs/And she believes the stories are real/She lets the music dictate the way that she feels.

Art Crawl!!!

Very sad. As in - she is too young because she is younger than I am. Saw an article in which it says that John Lydon's website had a press release that said she died after a long illness.

Belle & Sebastian related blogpost.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My tribute to Lux Interior on his birthday is up at HiLo.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is kind of awesome: 2NE1

While you were sleeping, K-Pop morphed into this. Zoetica of Coilhouse, from whose tweets I found this, asks:

"How can I simultaneously hate and love one thing this much?"

The one I've embedded below contains dancing Stormtroopers. And, yes, more auto-tune. The styling in both videos is kind of incredible.

The video is just... fun, and the song ("Follow Me") is catchy.

Stephen Merritt documentary: [link]

Strange Powers, a documentary which took directors Kerthy Fix and Gail O’Hara ten years to make, provides an intimate look at both Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields. While the focus is on Merritt’s relationship with longtime pal Claudia Gonson (Magnetic Fields manager and keyboardist), the film also chronicles his music-making process, with observations from well-known fans such as Peter Gabriel, Neil Gaiman, Carrie Brownstein, and Sarah Silverman.

For fans of the Magnetic Fields, highlights include footage from the band’s early years, rare firsthand stories from Merritt (a rather reclusive songwriter), and plenty of screen-time for his beloved chihuahua, Irving Berlin.

The link has a three-minute clip, and links to screenings, etc. Damn, I gotta see this!

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Oh man, that sounds great.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I saw Merritt do an in-store at Amoeba, just him with an acoustic guitar. Man, you haven't lived until you've seen him sing "Come Back From San Francisco" in San Francisco.

Yeah, I'm really regretting not seeing them tour for 69 Love Songs when it came out....

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this (no) but I'm going to ask on my mom's behalf anyway. She's got a bunch of LPs she wants to digitize. She thinks this process should be more automated than it has been in my experience. Is there anything out there that will digitize an LP and handle the editing for you as well?

In my own experience, I can digitize but I can only record as many minutes as I have free RAM space. Which usually ends up being about 10 min. Then I have to stop, name the file, save it, and start recording again
