Thanks for the link, JZ. In'eresting....
Just in case people don't know, the most awesome song on Nick Cave's
Murder Ballads
(the album that "Stagger Lee" is on)
is "The Curse of Millhaven," a bloody and funny song about a serial killer who's a 14-year-old girl.
eta: Since the song is from the p.o.v. of the girl, originally Nick planned to have a woman sing it (Polly J Harvey sings on a lot of the tracks) but then Nick decided he loved the song so much he wanted to sing it himself.

I swear I've heard rumours that he's done versions of "O'Malley's Bar" that go on three or four times as long, and the original is not short.

Oh dear. That would be
awesome,
as that song is already awesome (but without the italics)....
Have you all seen the video of Nick singing "Staggerlee"? He's wearing a pink Take That t-shirt. (Take That being the UK equivalent of N'Sync.)
That's cool. (I've been using the word "awesome" too much, I think.)
Nick once said that he doesn't understand why more people don't realize his songs are meant to be funny....
Here's the video.
Lyrics, NSFW, so don't play it too loud.
"I'm a bad motherfucker, don't you know
And I'll crawl over fifty good pussies just to get one fat boy's asshole"
Said Stagger Lee
I found the blog I was thinking of that had all the Stagolee mp3s: [link] It looks like it's now password protected, but this page gives you an idea of what he has.
OK, who's this sorta chistled hunky guy with all the hair at SXSW and where did he put Patrick Stump?

I'm really going to need and emphatic little
::stampstampstamp::
in whatever videos are pirated tonight or I'm going to start looking for pods.
How much longer will you be in Austin, Corwood? We're joining our friends' tour briefly this summer and they'll be hitting Austin. I was thinking I might be able to see you then. </natter>
