Lots of recovery ~ma, Raq for you and your family.
Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
(((Raq)))
Whew! Thanks, amych (ay-meech? a-mick?*). I'm glad I really was remembering the right name -- I just had a brain freeze once I'd written it down. (*I'm not actually wondering how to pronounce it. I'm exploring the possibilities. Possibly I'm a little punchy from the lack of sleep and the dread of "Do we HAVE to do math?" that I'll be hearing all day long.)
Oooh, oooh, I love this Traditional Buffista Discussion! Because in my head it's "A-Mitch". And askye is "Ask Ye." (But still for some reason I often mix her up with vwbug, because of the lower case and number of letters. Or for some reason.)
My kids' assembly went well this morning - Go Team Kids!
This evening I went to an awesome production of The Mikado - it was a very jazzed up, modernised version, with more Hot Mikado style songs, and absofuckinglutely hilarious. And I'm not especially a G&S person. But it really was hilarious.
And my head is full of Winchesters and angels.
Get well soon, Raq.
Yikes, Raq! healing and coping ~ma to you all.
I have decided, because now it is in the same calendar year and I need an escape from winter doldrums, to start planning our 5th anniversary San Francisco/Northern CA trip! Whee! We've sort of settled on a date range and perhaps a plan of attack, based on scrutinizing Google Maps. October 4-15.
October 4: fly in, settle in San Francisco for a few days (till the 7th)
October 7: drive up northward. I was thinking that the Calistoga Inn might be a nice place to set up camp to go to vineyards, French Laundry, Santa Rosa, and Healdsberg. Stay there till the 11th or 12th.
October 11th or 12th: drive up to Mendocino. Visit the Magic beer place, chill out by the coast.
October 14th: drive back down to SF, stay overnight
October 15th: fly home.
There's a lot I want to see, but I don't want to be checking in and out of hotels any more than that, because that gets stressful. Thoughts? Suggestions? Opinions?
drive up to Mendocino.
Pack Dramamine.
Visit the Magic beer place
No, REALLY. Pack Dramamine. Learn from our barfing.
Suggestions? Opinions?
The place we stayed in Mendocino was lovely -- breakfast was served (weather permitting) on the front porch, which overlooked the ocean (by "overlooked," I mean the ocean was across the street and down a few blocks; however, the view of it was expansive and a straight shot from the front porch). Our first morning there was glorious.
t edit We stayed in one of their "adjunct" buildings (not what they called it; I can't think of the term), which was a former water tower. (I don't recommend that specific property, though, unless they got a damn bed frame for the bed [lack of bed frame NOT advertised when booking].)
That said, a lot of the B&Bs in Mendo are really lovely.
why the Dramamine? The altitude? Proximity to the coast? I do not doubt you, but I was curious.
I remember your Mendocino adventures! That is why it's on the agenda! Was it worth the barfiness?
French Laundry
You know somebody?
I'll always plug our favorite little winery, Vincent Arroyo (in Calistoga). [link]
Quick healing, Raq. Brave~ma for Mal.
I have a conference call in about 15 minutes. Don't wanna.
catching up. Seems some ::blush:: is in order, since Shir and I are entertaining y'all so much. I am more a behind the scenes person. Voyeur, not exhibitionist. So ya. ::blush::
Raq, so much ~ma to you and the family. I'm just waiting on my gall bladder to call it quits. Not looking forward to that. Take it easy. I think you've earned it.
So, a little levity for the group. From the house managers report from Sunday's performance:
A lady comes to the lobby after Cain & Abel and says "There is a man with a black shirt in the back of the theater that keeps talking through the whole show. Can you please tell him to be quiet or talk somewhere else" I asked her to point him out to me, and she pointed to [Artistic Director, who is directed the play].
Dunno why. But that made me laugh and laugh and laugh. Hmm. Maybe I need more sleep.
Pieter Breitner posts on Deb's board.

The 2 main ways to get to Mendocino from anywhere south is (1) Hwy. 1, which is twisty turny twisty turny, and may cause quease; and (2) Hwy. 101, which is blessedly straight, but nowhere NEAR the coast, so to make your way west, you have to take your pick of roads that are nothing but switchbacks for so long you'll despair of ever reaching the coast. The most common one is 128, which you WILL have to take if you want to see the Magic Beer place.
I shit you not -- Rt. 128's first real stop is in Booneville (home of the Magic Beer), and they have signs (and t-shirts one can buy) calling Rt. 128 the "Dramamine Drive."
I *seriously* wish I had had some, because The Boy barfed on the drive in, and I barfed on the drive out, 4 days later.
I remember your Mendocino adventures! That is why it's on the agenda! Was it worth the barfiness?
WELL worth the barfiness! As long as all you want to do is chill, with minor excursions. (Although I suppose an energetic type could find many hikes, etc. to go on -- but why???)
