You like ships. You don't seem to be looking at the destinations. What you care about is the ships, and mine's the nicest.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

All I want is to hide somewhere and become very small and unnoticeable until that will be over. And not having so much to do would help, too. It's not a distraction, more like the other way around: when I have lots of stuff to do (90% of the time), the op is a distraction for these stuff. And not a good distraction.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I am trying and get a sense of the geography of the shit going on in Gaza. I have been searching to see if there are any interactive Google Maps. I haven't found what I had in mind, but I found two that are close. One is the Washington Post. They have a world map that you can scroll day by day, and geotags the pictures. But it doesn't do a great job at the geotagging, as they are concentrated in areas, so I'm thinking it was where they were uploaded from, rather than where the pic was snapped. It takes a lot of zooming, but it's interesting. [link]

The other is linked with youtube videos. A lot of propaganda types of stuff, but some are interesting, if not a brutal: [link]

And as I was listening to the news this morning, hearing some pretty warped justifications in an interview, I found myself defending Israel, then thinking what they are doing is crazy too. I realized, no matter how you flip this coin, its a wooden nickel, and neither side can buy you anything.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

t tacklehugs everyone right back

I'm grateful to whatever woman, man, or deity invented coffee.

Teppy speaks for me. I don't much care who invented it, just as long as it exists.

I'll go to the grocery store or similar errand w/o a bra, as long as I'm wearing a t-shirt with a loose sweater/fleece pullover/sweatshirt over it.

Tep, get the hell outta my head. This is also me.

Can you believe my mother used to sleep in her bras? ::boggles::

Underwire all the way. Except for sports bras. Still haven't found the OTSB yet.

Yay K-bug! That is one smart chica. Suzi, I'm so glad the bump was just a bump.

Also, I discovered once again that my low-heel mary janes, which feel perfectly fine when I first put them on, become Hell Shoes within about half an hour. By the end of the day, I could barely walk. I took them off about half an hour ago, and my feet are still red and swollen and possibly bruised. This happens every time I wear these, and I always forget. They're now going in the trash.

Ouch, Hil. I hope the tootsies feel better soon. At least you can throw them away, though. A physical force prevents me from throwing out shoes unless they are non-repairable. Cute, hot, sexy, fabulous and uncomfortable? You'll still find them in my closet. I've got a phenomenal pair of Celines that were on super-duper sale at DSW and I can't even eBay 'em. (I may have a shoe and handbag problem. Which is why Barb and I must never, EVER be allowed to go shopping together.)

lemons off our own tree.

Damn, I miss Italy. It's the only place where we can do that.

Welcome back, Vortex! Medicinal spirits may be in order soon, no?

Shir, I'm so sorry you have to go through this yet again. I'm sending a lot of peace~ma your way. May your sister remain safe.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

omnis, here are two maps, I don't know if more helpful: one, two.

And yes, this situation is really not black and white. I'm defending and criticizing Israel in the same breath.

I'm thinking about going to the Women in Black vigil. And at the same time, with all of the freakishness, I think hat at this point, the war might as well go on. If it'll stop now, nothing will change. Of course peace talks would be so much better, but I can't see this happening anytime soon.

Yes! Helpful in that both show where the rockets are landing, which was one of the things I was curious about. Thank you!

Not many wars are.

I'm thinking about going to the Women in Black vigil
What is this?

Their site is really not updated, but this is it.

It's been held for years, every Friday, in Jerusalem. I think it's time to show up.

Most of the branches let men join as well. You could always start a vigil.

That sentence didn't make a a lot of emotional sense.

And I'm afraid I'll have to skip a class on Thursday because I have way too much errands to do in here and I want to be home (parents home) at Thursday night. Sister will be coming on Friday morning, and I ain't gonna miss a second of her.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Sister will be coming on Friday morning, and I ain't gonna miss a second of her.

Damn straight.

I have to say, I'm having difficulty understanding how Tzipi Livni can defend the assertion that there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

I'm also having difficulty understanding how Ehud Olmert can possibly claim to be treating the civilian population of Gaza with a silk glove.

I am at a loss to understand how the Israeli government thinks that by bombing the terrorized and ghettoized Gazan civilians in the process of obliterating the democratically-elected Hamas government they are going to make themselves safer or more accepted in the region.

Even if they go ahead and kill all the non-Jewish people in the Palestinian territories, and leave the land strewn with corpses just to be super dooper certain that no secret Hamas supporters are lurking anywhere in the rubble, this will not create peace or security. Not in Israel, and not in the wider world.

I mean, that seems like such a no-brainer that that, surely, can't be their cunning plan. But I cannot see any evidence of an actual plan, other than "bomb the fuckers into submission" - a plan notable for its lack of cunning.

Dialogue. Dialogue and compromise is surely to God the only way they're going to make any progress. Treating one another like human beings deserving dignity and compassion will not magically make hardliners into fluffy bunnies overnight, but failing to do so will CERTAINLY leave everyone fucked.
