We had a very successful Christmas here at EM's house. The only suck part (which was very sucky) was that the traffic out of the city yesterday afternoon (in the rain) was dismal. Bumper to bumper, five mph, turning a half hour drive into 90 minutes. Feh.
And then we got here and had a delicious fish stew, and a key lime tart for dessert. Matilda and JZ slept in Emmett's bed (I got the floor with couch cushions).
Emmett scored big for Christmas. The tux fits him beautifully. The pants need to be taken up but we knew that from the start. But considering we bought it online we got a great fit on the jacket. He really loooks good in it. He also got a laptop, and several huge Lego sets. He's deep into the Lego right now.
Matilda very happily flipped out about getting her Yo Gabba Gabba toys, and chewed the head off her chocolate santa with the efficiency of a mantis.
EM is napping, JZ and Matilda are at church and I'm watching Flick get his tongue stuck to the flagpole.
Later this afternoon we'll collect megan walker and go over to JZ's family for Christmas Dinner. Her brothers have both flown in, so it will be good to see them.
The pet presents didn't go over so well but D loves his Wall-E. I'm slurping down some tea before I head over to my brother's house.
I can haz
Doctor Who
Christmas Special!
Which was...well, not as good as I'd hoped, but better than being poked in the eye with a sharp stick.
and off to Christmas dinner!
all your d are belong to us!!
Fay, I am soooooo jealous. Tennant
has three more specials before the shift this year,
right?
I can haz new glasses!
And I'm not paying any attention while dying of envy in the corner about Dr. Who. Why, not at all. I'm one season behind, with a big Tennant crush.
Finally, a celebrity crush that answers the "not old enough to be my father" prerequisite.
Oh Fay! Say it ain't so.
I was really hoping
Morrisey
was going to make it a cracking outing.
Hmph.
Rather than delete the double post, I'll use this space to wish every buffista and buffista related soul the brightest of blessings on this day and all others.
Happy holiday.
Shir, prepare to be utterly, hopelessly broken by season 4. It's my favorite season, but it also killed me ded.
Edited because Shir is not sj. Doh.
Word on the Season 4 love, on both points.
I don't want to imply that the
Doctor Who
special was pants - it was really quite likeable, and had a good cast. It wasn't of the suck. But it wasn't on a par with the best episodes of the series, imho (ymmv)...and if you're subsisting on a diet of specials for a year, rather than a proper series, then you want the specials to kick ass.
thinks
Probably, having had that lukewarm description, you'll be all 'OMG, what was she
talking
about? It's made of win!' when you see it. Always good to be braced for something to be pants, and then you appreciate it more. Whereas if you're hoping it's going to be awesome, then you can be a bit 'meh' about it.
Kristin - yes, that's right afaik.
Meanwhile, I've now watched the new
Wallace and Gromit
film, and I thought that was generally v. satisfying & funny & charming. Although I was, I confess, a leetle unthrilled about the
fat chick = eeevil (because she's bitter about being fat) premise.
But that's probably my own issues speaking.
Generally, v. funny, lots of shout-outs to various things. Pretty darned risque, also, for a W&G movie!
