We are three shorthanded at work this weekend because we lost two guys, another one is suddenly in jail weekends for a long-ago infraction that caught up with him.
I've put a charger on the squad car, so maybe Andi can drive it tomorrow. She may be getting home early form work. I will take her car to put in some hours. I will try and grab the battery from the crunched Grand Am when I get home.
I checked the oil in the squad car. Black as soot.

That's definitely squashed. It's a shame there isn't an insurance category for "being an asshole" or "hitting a car while driving drunk or without a license" that gives more money to the victim.
Dude. Now I'm doubly glad nobody was in the car - that's quite a hit!
OMG, Daniel! That's awful! So glad you weren't in it and that there is insurance to cover the damage.
I hope your boss stops his asshattery.
Ugh. Yes, it would be a whole lot worse if you had been in it.

I think I'd rather take a cab to work the next few days, get receipts, and turn them in to the insurance company (the other guy's ins., as providing transportation between now and when the money for getting another vehicle comes through is part of the responsibility.
And really, Dan's boss is a pretty decent guy, he's just in a huge bind, being as shorthanded as they are.

You should look into whether they'll cough up for a rental car. They should, but it generally is a reimbursement so you have to pay for it up front.
I'm sure laws have changed, but when I had an accident in MN, the insurance company had a deal worked out with some of the rental places, so the car rental places just billed the insurance companies directly. Definitely check into that.
yikes Daniel, it looks like a SUV, judging by the crunch height. Gotta love when bumpers don't line up.
I second the car rental angle. Be a bitch about it. Call their insurance company. "Your client knocked me out of commission. I need that car to get to work. Either you pay the full cost of the rental until my car is fixed or replaced, or you pay my salary until I find a new job, because they are sure to fire me. If you disagree, then you can talk to my lawyer, and I'm sure he'll get you to do it, of course you will be paying for him too. So? Which will it be? Car rental? Or lawyer fees + salary. Judging by the economy, it could be a while before I find a new job."
