[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Shir's incantation worked on my DH and the dog, at least.

'morning, Bitches.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Gah! Aims, I hope this turns out to be a whole lot o' nothing.

Good morning, everyone. I forgot to turn on my alarm last night. I also forgot to set the coffee maker to start brewing. I have a feeling I was in serious denial last night about today being Monday.

Sammie has been unusually snuggly the last couple days. Either she's really worried about me, or it's mighty damn cold out there. But could someone please explain to her that no matter how cute she is, and no matter how awake I am, there's just no way I'll be feeding her at 5:40am?

So, I've decided to give my ex's family their presents. It's what I wanted to do all along, and then people started telling me that would be weird, and I was torn. I think I painted CBD badly when talking about the conversation we had about it. He didn't really try to convince me; he more just let me know he thought it would be ok...that we weren't having that kind of breakup.

In further evidence, I asked him last night if it might be ok to still have my brother meet with his mom and talk about law school/being a judge/etc. He thought that would be ok, and so I e-mailed his mom. His mom is happy to meet with my brother. In the course of the e-mail conversation I said, "I hope it isn't weird, but I'm going to go ahead and send the Hanukkah presents I made. I just made them specifically for you guys, so to me they'll never be right with someone else."

She responded, "Certainly not weird."

So, I'm going to finish them up over the next few days, and CBD's gonna pick them up on Friday.

Sounds good, vw. I'm glad you found the answer that fit you best.

“Not dead yet!”

Aims, I swear, your ass better be parked in a hospital bed right now or no Cabana Boys for you!

vw, I'm glad you came to a peaceful emotional resolution regarding the gifts.

I have a sniffly, scratchy-voiced girl home with me today. Poor noodle-- she's usually never this limp. It's an odd thing to see.

Now tagless for your comfort.

vw, I have a question for you. I saw two cheap sewing machines (a Brother for $70 and a Singer for $99). I'm considering learning to sew for some simple crafts. Which one of these machines do you think would be good to learn on?

Cashmere, are these new or used machines? If they are new machines (or on Craigslist), could you link to something similar? That way I can see what they include and decide which would make a better starter machine.

Here's my initial thought. Brother and Singer are usually similar in quality. They're not usually fancy, schmancy, but they are certainly great starter machines. Honestly, I think either of them would be fine...as long as you're not going to be doing daily work on thick fabrics. Down the road, if you like it, you may want to invest in a more expensive machine, but I think either of those would be a great way to test whether or not sewing is for you.

Another thought...

There are also shops that allow you to come into their space and rent their machines for an hourly charge. Often there's even someone there to help you figure things out. That's another way you could test and see if sewing is for you, without investing in a machine. Then you might actually use a machine you really like, and decide to go with that.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

He also asked what my family's Chanukah traditions were, and seemed very disappointed that we didn't have anything other than the usual stuff.

"Roasting annoying Christians/atheists/non-Jews over an open fire."

ION, my back/leg pain is okay but by no means gone, and I'm trying to get ahold of my doctor to see what I should do next -- MRI? More drugs? Wait it out? But their darn line is busy (no doubt due to people like me who had medical problems over the weekend).
