As for The Greeks. They make yummy food. Strong booze. In the past it was common for men to fraternize with other men, or their mothers. And recently they improved their mass transit system when they hosted an international event that they are still paying for. There is other stuff about how the rest of the world copied their architecture and government, but those are minor foot notes.

Yesterday we put up a Christmas tree and some lights outside. Surprisingly, my DH had qualms about the outside lights (he's Jewish) because he felt like it was announcing ourselves as Christian. I pointed to the tree in front of the windows about which he had no qualms and said, "Wha-huh?" He got over it, but I ordered an electric menorah to put in one of the windows, replacing the single candles I already had there. File under: Boyz are silly.

I had a moment of sad-panic yesterday when we couldn't find the tree decorations, many of which were made by me (not a big deal) or by my sisters and mother (a very big deal). That box also had my xmas stocking that my mother made when I was born. I figured with two big moves in less than a year, it had been lost/misplaced, but we finally found it after the third trip to the attic.

Oh, Sparky, I'm so glad you found them! Mom found a box of my stuff that had been missing, and I am SO thankful because it has a very one-of-a-kind framed embroidery that my mom made for me years ago. I hadn't had the heart to tell her that it was missing. I too was afraid it got lost in one of my many moves.

I'm up and working. I seem to have managed to wear my CPAP all night last night, which is the first time in several weeks. So, yay for that. I have much work to do today. I hope I can get it done without getting too distracted by the current situation.

I suspect we'll work it out. I partially suspect that because he called at 10pm last night with the lamest question. Woke me up, which kind of pissed me off, so I e-mailed him and said to only e-mail me for a few days. I also suggested that next Sunday we go out for hot chocolate at LA Burdick's, which was supposed to be where our first date was, but then hilarity ensued, and we ended up somewhere else. I figured, maybe we should start over where we originally planned to start. Silly, I know.

Um. It's about friendly vampires that glitter and play baseball. In the daylight. And the protagonist is a teenage girl with all the spunk, wit and personality of a dishcloth, and the self-preservation instincts of a kamikaze lemming in a minefield. Her name is Bella Swan. Because Meyer is good at subtlety.

On a kinder note, Meyer does an effective job of pushing various teengirl buttons; it's worth reading to be able to have an educated opinion on the SparkleFang Fandom phenomenon. And, hell, I don't think it's worse than the Sookie Stackhouse books, and yet I seem to have ploughed through most (maybe all?) of those.

It's pretty much the antithesis of BtVS in terms of character and mythos, though.
