Maria! How have you been?

Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
That is a pretty amusing W vid. I like hearing him talk about A Charge to Keep with no idea what the painting is really about.
edit: that's not even the painting's title. More info here.
Oh, man, Laga, that's just exactly the kind of obscure art history/old pop culture stuff I love (and, man, I have such a weakness for the old, old, old-school Harper's with its thrilling, lavishly and cheesily illustrated serials of rugged pioneers and romance amongst the trout fisheries--the actual title of that painting just fills me with glee). Thank you so, so much for that link! Seriously, it made my night!
Before I disappear again to make dinner, congratulations Amy! Excellent news!
I love the internet -- someone suggested a magic eraser for removing the haze from my tile. It works better than anything else. Now I have to go get a bunch

Happy Birthday, Jilli! May the coming year be full of swirly bats and all things cupcake pink, and may the Haunted Mansion finally recognize you as the true 'mistress of the manor' and let you move in.
OK, this is freaky. I've been sitting down for a while, feel perfectly calm and relaxed, and my blood pressure is 140/104 and my heart rate is 100.
It was perhaps a bad idea for my mom to get me this blood pressure monitor. I'm getting a bit obsessive here.
Hil, how often does your doctor think you should monitor your blood pressure? At the group homes, there are a couple of residents we monitor regularly - one of them gets it done twice a week, and once a week for the other. Do bear in mind that you need to be sitting still for at least five minutes to get a good reading, even standing up to walk to the other side of the room to get the bp cuff is too much activity.
Doctor hasn't told me how often. I've mostly been taking it each night. I think it's a medication issue -- my bp has spiked since the doctor changed the dosage on one of my meds. I've got an appointment with him on Thursday, so I'll discuss it then. I actually got the cuff because it's also got a heart rate monitor, and I'm supposed to be checking that when I feel like my heart is racing or clicking (which it has been doing lately, which I'm also blaming on the meds.)
Mostly, giving me something like a blood pressure cuff that'll give me immediate data is just dangerous. I get way too "What's my blood pressure now? ... Huh, I wonder what it is now..."
