Spike's Bitches 43: Who am I kidding? I love to brag.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

{{{{{Beverly}}}}}} So sorry for your loss.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Bev, all my thoughts are with you. I'm so glad you and DH are able to take a week off from the world at this time. Take care of yourselves.

Our wings are not tired.

{{Beverly}} I'm sorry for your loss. I know you did everything a daughter could possibly do to make her last years comfortable. A peaceful passing when we are ready is the best we can hope for. Enjoy your time away. Rest and rejuvenate and know my thoughts and with you and yours.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

{{{Bev}}}. Have peace: it sounds like your mom does.

Oh, {{{Bev}}}. I too am so glad you get to take a bit of time away from the world. Hang in there, and check in when you feel up to it.

{{Bev}} It's a good thing you've got this chance to rest. Peace.

omnis, if your hotel in Bethesda is convenient to the metro you probably don't need to move to a more expensive DC location. Bethesda to downtown takes about 15 minutes on the train, and costs less than $3 each way (actual price depends on time of day).

I'm excited because the Smithsonian Museum of American History is re-opening this weekend after being closed for a couple of years.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

It is? Finally! (I was just telling a student to go look at the Enigma there, but I realized I had no idea where it was while American History was closed.)

I'm sorry, Bev. Peace to you and yours. {{Beverly}}

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Beverly, all my sympathy. Take the time off - you need it and you deserve it.

(sudden switch of subject)

omnis, if I remember correctly, the Bethesda Marriott is right on top of a Metro stop (red line). As Sparky said, it's a quick trip into town ... and it's be hard to match the price at an in-town hotel. Also, Bethesda has some really good restaurants.
