Generally considered a fault when one is supposed to be in a hospitality industry. And since I'm the vindictive type, I'd call back and ask for a supervisory type and describe what it is you expect from someone in a service position.

V. annoying. IME, hotels do have different rates for corporate vs private vs non-profit.

yeah, there was a great article about a woman who was planning her wedding reception, and her fiancee called the hotel and said he was planning a business dinner with the exact same parameters and was quoted 10K less. Her father hit the roof. There were lawsuits threatened. I think they ended up getting the reception at cost with some hotel rooms thrown in.
