I just received some lovely news from the blood family front. Apparently there was some money from my mother's estate that was to be divided amongst my sisters and myself. A check for $500 is inbound. Hubby just said, "We're putting every cent of it away." "Why?" I pouted. "Because it's going to take a couple of hundred to fly to Vegas, plus we'll need money for food and whatnot." "Oh," I said.

It's nice to see some brave pretenders trying to make it interesting.

Congratulations SA! And also hooray for connie, it seems!

My brother is being a hot-headed ass about politics. I sort of told him so, too. Guess the family won't hear from him for a while again now. I really was hoping this would be the year he'd learn to get along, but I guess I shouldn't have hoped for that in an election year. I don't know why he can't understand that nothing he does will change my parents' opinions on how they vote, and getting angry only makes them more set in their ways. At the very least, I hope I don't get included in their back and forth sniping, because it's making me really angry.

omnis, yay for some possibly temporary kitty lovins. And I hope you get a good lead on catering girl.

I have never met meara, but I laughed at the introverted thing too.

I need food and a good emotional brain bleach scrubbing.

meara - Oct 27, 2008 7:44:13 pm PDT #9441 of 10001

Yeah, "introverted" is about the LAST word most anyone who's ever met me would use to apply to me. Now, granted, I was in a more subdued mood than usual that night, but...still.

What tag should we search for? Your real name? meara? "Naughty Santaly
"?

Hah! No, if you are my friend on facebook, you should just be able to go to my page and see I tagged myself in a photo. Or click on photos of me and find it.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

omnis, I must say you got me thinking about the dating thing a little bit, now that I know you have her email.

You see, if one is asking me out, most chances I'd be too freaked out of the idea of dating which may lead, God forbid, being in relationship (only half snarkish here. Working on it...), I'll say no. Even when I see it coming from miles away (which I usually can), but I need to feel extremely comfortable to say yes, and since I'm still not all quite comfortable with the idea... it just got me thinking that maybe being asked out by email wouldn't be such a bad idea. I'm not talking about my "real" email, of course (that would be somehow invading my privacy), but the one I give when I don't want to give my email address (which I check, because I know I may get there something that might interest me and some people just have only this address of mine. Oh, and also my dad can't figure out how to change my contact details, for it once was my only email address). Of course, in that case there's the chance I might forget about it, but better chances for me to regroup in time and think "oh fuck me and my fears, yes! let's date, if only for practice sake!".

Anyhow, if you're asking her out by email and not number, may I advise to do it within two weeks? Or else, she might not remember, and I think it's one of the striking the iron while it's hot cases.

Also, yay for some kitten loving! And connie, yay for news!

After about a week or so of thinking I'm doing fine, I got all saddened about my friend's death again. I wanted to watch Buffy with dinner, and wanted to watch something of the 4th season. While thinking about which ep to watch, I remembered the fan production I did for Hush. Basically, we dubbed the episode, and she dubbed Tara, and I nearly broke into tears when I remembered some of her lines (for even now, few years later, I can still remember main parts of the script by heart). I ended up choosing A New Man, and going to bed in tears. I wish for the day when I'll be able to remember her with a smile, and not with tears to come already.

I'll also be out today to visit another dying relative, if he'll feel up for it.

Also, Laga, whenever I read your tag I'm thinking about the Dulli (Afghan Whigs) line, "you can fuck my body baby, but please, don't fuck my mind".

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

My tag is from an episode of How I Met Your Mother. I remember the Afghan Wigs but I can't recall any of their songs.

Distraction, eh, Laga? What could be more distracting than a walking house? [link] Very cool YouTube vid.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I had a weird day. I finally gave in and admitted my shoulder was bothering me enough to wear a sling. I hate wearing a sling -- I can't get my jacket on right, or my backpack, and everybody asks what's wrong and I don't feel like answering. So anyway. By about 10 in the morning, my shoulder was feeling fine. Totally fine. So I could keep the sling on and feel like a fake getting sympathy for a shoulder that wasn't hurting, or take it off, risk maybe injuring it again, and get all kinds of weird looks from people that I'd just told an hour earlier that I'd partially dislocated the shoulder.

I ended up keeping it on, figuring that was easier. Managed to not reinjure. Managed to dodge most questions, too.

Waves hello to Omnis.
howdy waves back at WS

Don't be surprised if that cat comes back. Of all the cats I've known, maybe half of them were allowed by the landlord. Not that I'm saying you should break the rules for a little old kitty cat.
Ya, I'm tempted. I've seen the cats a bunch of times. Cute thing. No where near young or thin. Clearly not a stray. I psss psss psss it a few times to try and schritch it, with no luck. Then Thursday or so I was trying to pet it, and he was actually approaching, when a red pick-up truck parked right next to mine, and a nice gal got out apologizing if the cat was bothering me. Seems the cat was a stray a number of years ago, and she started feeding it. Next thing ya know, she's got a cat. I'm guessing she lets him out during the day when she's not home, just in case the maintenance folks swing by. Either way, not really mine to have. Plus, I can't afford a pet just yet.

omnis, I must say you got me thinking about the dating thing a little bit, now that I know you have her email.
um. I wish I had her e-mail. I'm hoping for an e-mail from co-worker with contact info from her. And ya, I totally want to strike while the iron is hot.
