Hey! What a surprise! Hostile 17! Can I get you a drink, Hostile 17?

Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Western Caribbean: Labadee, Haiti (Royal Caribbean's little private island); Ocho Rios, Jamaica; Georgetown, Grand Caymen; and Cozumel, Mexico. We're going in the reverse order of the same stops this week. I've spent most of my time on the ship so far, but I'm planning to try to schedule some fun time on the islands next week. I'm thinking about getting scuba certified so I can do a real dive since the one I went on was a total tease.

On a more practical note, I need to find some laundry detergent so I can wash some of my clothes and hang them to dry. Laundry is stupid expensive on the ship, and they'd probably shrink my shirts accidentally (they say to wash/dry, but I always hang dry since they're cotton). I only packed for a week since I wasn't supposed to stay on this week, so I'm a bit short on clothes!

Okay, I'm off for a bit. Wish me customs and re-embarking luck. Hugs to all who want or need them.

I absolutely love Wicked. It's a great musical, with clever, catchy numbers, wonderful characters, and good themes. Plus, it has strong gay positive themes that are stealth enough to be friendly for the mainstream audience.

I would have liked to see Chenoweth and Menzel perform the show, but the LA cast was stellar in it's own right.

I am back in the terminal, having cleared customs, marched back through the embarkation process, and gotten my new documents. The heavens just opened. I hope they got the massive Nick splat graphic finished on the side of the ship before the rain started. They were just starting to apply it when I got off at 10. Oops.

It's still driving me crazy that you guys are this close! I'm so sorry I couldn't make the drive. Have a great trip, again.

IOmememeN: I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK TO WORK TOMORROW!!!! 7:30am breakfast meeting with the Draconian Dictator is not high on my list. The administration is supposed to make the breakfast for the whole faculty but I don't think DD gets his hands dirty. He prefers to order people around.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Re Wicked: The very last workshop I attended at the Willamette Writer Conference last weekend was on applying lessons from musicals to your writing (sort of "if your characters were going to burst into song, when would they do it?"). It was a great workshop, and I really need to make the time to type up my notes and blog them, but anyway...the speaker used a clip from "For Good" from Wicked as one of his examples, and it's made me really curious to see the whole thing.
