I lived in FL and my sister went to FSU ('94) and I think she was even part of the marching band at one point, but the football talk goes right over my head.
My dad told us he had ruined his knees playing football for the Seminoles, then went into the army so the government would fix the knees for him. It was after that that he ended up training on computer repair in the town where he met my mother. I got curious, and found a website that had Seminole team rosters from way back when. The only Jim Miller listed, showed up on the team roster for one season in a year a smidge later than I would have expected (but not impossibly so), didn't even get a number, wasn't in the team photo. Hometown was listed as Miami. The old man was born in Carrabelle, grew up in Chatahoochie. He never mentioned living in Miami. But then again, his younger brother told us that when he was growing up, there were years when my father was just gone. So it is not outside the realms of possibility that the old man could have migrated south for a few years, after high school, then returned north to Tallahassee for college, saying Miami was where he had been just prior. I'm not a 100% certain that this Jim Miller was my dad, but the more I think about it, the more likely it becomes that it was him.
Crappity, sj.
Did I miss Smonster's birthday? Happy belated b-day, Smonster!
Sorry, yesterday was an exhausting day, and I was just not as present as I could have been.
Is this a different program than SSI?
Yes, it's SSDI, and I'm not qualified to apply for SSI, according to them.
Tea:
I'm feeling completely pathetic right now. I wish I could just get a regular job and work. The one positive is, if I do get a part-time job after we marry, I don't have to answer to or report to anyone about what I make.
If you're married, they take TCG's income into your SSDI calculations, correct? He'd made too much for you to qualify? Sorry about the news, sj. I know how frustrating that is.
ION, It's TCG's birthday, right? Happy Birthday wishes for him!

It's slight more complicated. I don't qualify for SSDI at all if I get married, unless I marry someone else who was also declared handicapped as a child. I don't qualify to apply for SSI because of TCG's income.

Yes, it is! He opened his prezzies last night and is spending today registering his new car.
Hubby must be on SSI, then.
Hubby must be on SSI, then.
It's probably different for your Hubby, Connie. He was rendered disabled as an adult, while I was born disabled. So, he is able to collect under all of the money he put in to SS over the years. I have to collect on what my parents put into it. Different rules for different circumstances.
Oh, yeah, that would make a difference.
Nephew J is having his heart tests done this week. So far the news is: no surgery on the pace maker, no surgery on the leaky valve, and possible surgery on the blocked artery. Any ~ma you have to spare for him this week would be so appreciated.
