Happy Birthday, Trudy and Kara!

Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Sigh.
To add to the joys of 2008, apparently I have a Very Christian parent who is reading Catcher in the Rye for the first time and is very upset that it was assigned as summer reading. She apparently was worried that last year's reading in 8th grade was "too heavy." Our reading list this year for 9th? Catcher, excerpts from the Bible, Lord of the Flies, Medea, The Odyssey, The Penelopiad, poetry, and Macbeth.
Um.
Aims, I wouldn't get worried until she starts demanding a candy bra.
Although it occurs to me - having his dear daughter pleading, and then throwing a full-scale tantrum, might give MM the incentive he needs to GET THE TRANSPORTER WORKING.
I have purple and black sparkley stripey tights. They're waiting for this dress to arrive: [link]
I swear, half the reason I'm starting a band is to wear stuff like this on stage.
Isn't all the world a stage?
And I saw that in the catalog and thought it might appeal to some of the Buffistas.

Um.
You're teaching them good Christian values like prejudice, ambition, murder, traveling, and rhyming!
Hey, all. Mucho gronk.
Happy birthday, Trudy! I wish you career success, financial liberty and hot sweaty men in little to no clothing!

Teppy, I like your billboard! You look really pretty and pain-free! Although I too would be gobsmacked every time I had to drive past a giant me.

I have a phone interview set up for Monday. Yay.

hah! yes, it is a great excuse for all kinds of ridiculous fun clothing! Saturday at my neighborhood festival we are going all nautical like we did when Perkins & Juliana saw us in Vegas.
What's the story with your band? Are you starting it with folks you know? What will you be doing in it (aside from dressing fab and having a good time)?
Yay, Erin! Much interview~ma.

Pyramid Collection has great stuff. But they tend to screw up so you have to keep an eye on them. They'll fix it as soon as you TELL them that they, oh, sent you two of the same item or cancelled something they shouldn't have or charge you for the same shipping three times... but it takes a phone call. Or nine.

Earlier this year I started seeing a whole bunch of bands with various friends. I finally said "I want to be in a band" to one friend (who is a killer guitarist, keyboard player and beginner drummer) and she replied, "You can learn bass. Find us a female drummer and we'll have a girl band. I've always wanted a girl band". I was telling the story to one of my improv castmates (who plays bass and guitar and keyboards) to see if she could help me find a drummer and she replied, "Oh, I play drums too." They're going to switch off on instruments and we'll all sing.
So I bought a bass and have been noodling with it and, now that I am working, I'm starting lessons next week. Katherine and I have half-written three songs. Our style is fairly punk -- this is more by default than design since I can't play for shit!
