Fay, I heard on NPR this morning that the official reason the Thai PM was sacked was because he hosted a cooking show while in office -- is that true?
Spike's Bitches 42: Which question do you want me to answer first?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Steph, from the way I understand it, the Thai PM has a cooking show, but the Thailand Constitution prohibits cabinet ministers from holding outside jobs while in office. So there is talk about using that law to force the PM out of office, as a solution to the political unrest in the country. I don't think he's been sacked yet, though.
[edit: I didn't check the news this morning. He has in fact been sacked: [link] ]

Yes.
How awesome is that?
Of course, the real reason he's been sacked is that he's seen as a Thaksin stooge, and the PAD have been demonstrating like crazy (and making some fairly unlikely demands). But the ostensible reason is that he's hosting a cooking show, which constitutes a conflict of interests.
!!!
...see where I said that I have never ever ever been anywhere in the world where they were more obsessed with food? I think that this, right here, says it all.
Thai food can lead to obsession outside of Thailand, IJS. Also, awesome. It would be refreshing if our politicians' conflicts of interest were so tasty.
Yes! The Fay boots rock.
My suggestion is that you look into a GPS
Just remember to put it in the glove compartment when you leave the car - I'm sure mine isn't the only neighborhood where GPS units on the dashboard are considered invitations to break the windows and take them.
OMG! WANT! BOOTS!
t awash with boot-lust, me hearties!

No, it is happening everywhere.
GPS units are being stolen everywhere, but (mine, at least) is small enough for me to slip into my purse or into the glove box. We've never actually put the holder-mount onto the dash, since that seems like advertising you have one. I just keep it next to me in the door's pocket, and I can hear her talk or take it out if I need to look (which is pretty rare, actually).
