Our wings are not tired.

Hi all. Good to see Kristin finally arrived home. We've had about 8" of rain. Messy but not bad. Tornadoes to the west of us leaving horses without barns. Horsies ok. Only injury I have seen was a kite surfer that was picked up off the water, bounced a couple times on the beach then tossed into a truck on the road. Yep, Darwin at work again.

Looks like I might have a rain break for a little while. Might drive the mile to the office and check things there since I can't reach my computers. Might not have power.

eta: yes, a lot of mights there, like storm track, uncertain

I was gonna say...

Glad all you got was a good soaking.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The weather people here keep saying wistfully how much good a tropical storm could do for the reservoirs. Florida's cloud = our silver lining.

I kept asking folks where the nearest bell tower is, since it seems historically speaking, Texans do that kinda thing, but nobody would tell me where one is.

He was sitting up there in the Texas tower
Way up there for more than an hour

Shooting from the 22nd floor

He didn't choke or stab or slit them
Not our Charles Joseph Whitman.
He won't be an architect no more.

eta: Sorry about the bold. Not enough coffee.

Mostly lurking...

Kristin, I'm so glad you finally made it home!

I did NOT sleep well last night. Stupid asthma.

Anyone have any ideas about removing mold from the inside of a window AC unit? I'm thinking that's not helping me. I didn't even realize it was as bad as it was until I took a little glance last night. Yuck. Need the AC, but wow, that *cannot* be helping me.

Our wings are not tired.

I hope for Georgia's sake that you do get some good soaking. It would be lovely if it would stall over Lake Okeechobee here for some time since it is still 3' down. I need to stay away from the weather blogs since they are making noises about it heading out to the Gulf to get its organization thing going on.

My plan to check on the office just got scrapped by another tornado warning. Silly storm. All in the path please stay safe. Kids want to go play in the wind. Um, not while the tornado warning is up. I'm such a mean mom.

Yeah, sanity's such a bitch.

Librarian Warlord

Sorry for all the non-sleeping, Bitches. I actually had a pretty good night except for when the puppy had trouble figuring out where she wanted to be at 3 a.m.

Dear Student: I know you don't care for that reference librarian. I'd like to let him go myself. However, submitting anonymous demands that the BigBoss ("if [Boss' Name] isn't man enough") fire him immediately or else you'll go to the Dean, is really immature and makes you sound like a spoiled brat. S/he who can't actually walk into one of our offices with a well worded complaint shouldn't accuse someone else of not being able to man-up. Signed, A Librarian Who Doesn't React Well to Your Stupid Threats.

Lake Lanier is about 14 feet down.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Stay safe, Floridians! Get soaked, drought-stricken!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Cocksackie is viral; there's not much to do about it.

Besides the giggling.

SERIOUSLY! Doctor Cocksackie, I'm sure you were/are a brilliant researcher or diagnostician or whatever, but you couldn't come up with a clever mispronuciation like Nick Lachey did? Between you and Dr. Altzheimer (who's disease everyone in my family north of 70 calls "Old Timers Disease") and the cleverly named "sitz bath" medicine is just too giggle-inducing.
