[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I go "huh? do you mean every two months or every two weeks?"

This is me. Because bimonthly can actually mean either.

I like the Oxford answer:

I'm afraid it means both! But in the publishing industry, it is used fairly consistently to mean 'every two months'. The same ambiguity affects biweekly and biyearly. If you want to be absolutely clear, use a phrase such as 'twice a week' or 'every two years'.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

The only reason I get bimonthly straight is remembering that "bicentennial" means two centuries.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Where I work, people are paid either monthly or biweekly -- so bi is fairly firmly associated with two rather than a half for me, although my mind jumps to weeks rather than months. Without that kind of context, I'd have to agree with the advice to make it clearer.

sure, leave it to the guy on crutches to find the one patch of slickery mud on the roof. Slip and go boom. Head hit concrete wall. Thankfully not hard, or there would be mega ow. All I could think, as I was sliding non-stop down was "o dear god don't let me bleed to death up here, nobody would look for me up here". Clearly it wasn't a fast fall, since I had so much time to think about this on the way down. Now my right side is covered in mud. So much for the shortcut to the bathroom. So much for going to the party tonight. Don't wanna go with mud or minor scrapes.

Philistine. Don't you know that people must contort themselves to meet the demands of Art? Why else are there so many stupid shoes in the world?

or the stairs in this building. I swear, they are not square. Imagine the stairwell a parallelagram. If you walk straight down the center of the stairs, by the time you try to hit bottom, you are in the wall. Oh, and the walls are curved too (floor to ceiling). So everything is skewed. AND the treads are tiny. I have size 8 1/2 shoes. not big for a guy. HALF my foot fits on the damn treads. :: shakes fist @ FLW ::

See, I want to use it to mean "every other month". Which I suppose I could say, but I used "every other week" a few sentences before.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Every two months, when I read it. Unless it's implied to be other and then I have to stop and think and wonder.

okay. Now a resume question. I'm updating my resume to include "professional affiliations and committees" because I was just asked to be on an alumni advisory committee at my undergrad. I have it in this order:

Honors Advisory Committee, Current University (Chair)
Middle States Accreditation Self-Study Committee, Current University
Alumni Diversity Advisory Committee, Alumni University

Basically, the question is, should I list outside or inside stuff first?
