Then again...time to move to San Francisco!
Not in this housing market... Though it is awfully tempting.
He has 3 months severance and has already started the process of looking, and he has a lot of experience and left on good terms (it was economic- the only developers there are the three that have been there longer than Tom- and he's been there almost 10 years- AND 2 of those 3 have the words "Vice President" or CxO in their titles) so it's not a gruesome situation... yet.
Thinks about mortgage. Cries
Fuck, Nora and Tom!! Job~~ma!!! and Hugs!!
Damn, Nora, that turbo sucks donkey dick.
I further add ~ma and whatnot.
Crapola, Nora-- that sucks. Much ~ma to you and to Tom.
That's crappy news, Nora. Best job~ma to Tom.
Heh, there is a Cambridge office in Tech Square (which is near where I work). Will add to list of links for Tom to investigate.
cereal to add: Thanks for all the ~ma and good wishes. I know Tom's certainly not the only one around these parts to be affected by the crap-ass economy so really, I just want ~ma for everyone!
cereal again (I'm so scattered right now)
Is he all right?
He seems OK. I don't think that this was a surprise to him since the last round of layoffs. The three month severence window sort of seems to insure against instant panic.
We'll see how things go when I get home. I think it will be a hard week.
Shit, Nora, that sucks!! Give Tom my sympathies, and I hope the gut-punch feeling goes away quickly (that's how it's always felt to me when I lost a job, even ones I loathed).
