Why is Sarah McLachlan and her husband splitting news right now. Didn't they announce that months ago?

I am wiped out, even though I had a very lazy day. I can't figure it out.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hey, Dana, are you glad you're not in Houston anymore?

In a sense, yes, but our house down there doesn't close until next week, so if there's any damage to it, we have to deal with it. And if we were down there, we could deal with it directly. Now we have to wait for our realtor to make it over to check things out, probably tomorrow.

I am not sorry to be sitting in a house that has running water and power, though.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Kathy - is there alot of flooding by you?

Yeah. A few co-workers at the bookstore came in and reported that their basements were flooded, and a customer was telling me that a friend of hers who lives in a basement apartment is completely flooded out (ouch! thank dog I live on the third floor!).

The news radio reported that some idiot in Arlington Heights (next-door suburb) decided to go swimming in the flood waters and ended up drowning.

Dana, I hope your old house is ok.

I spent a hurricane with my aunt and uncle down in Houston, years ago. It was crazy. My first hurricane, and I don't think I'd ever seen that much water in my life. Pretty sure their old house would've taken on water with Ike, because that one was an indirect, mild Cat 2 and the water was up to the door. Glad they are living outside of Austin now.

Matilda is gonna kill everyone with cute.

“Not dead yet!”

Yay, Matilda-- kill 'em with the cuteness overload!

Although this wasn't a shut out and the score wasn't as high but still a win!

Better still, they actually looked good (when I think of some of the sorry teams we played in the last few years and looked like we were struggling...)

Plus, the second half was all about the second teamers. It was seriously like a throwback game.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In a sense, yes, but our house down there doesn't close until next week,

Oh, ouch. Good luck w/that.

I hope your house is okay Dana.

In SNL news, Tina Fey's Sarah Palin is uncanny. I actually took a second to make sure it wasn't the real Sarah Palin. The opening was hysterical.

In other SNL news, was that Guy Fieri sitting in the audience next to Shatner?? If so, why?

I need to go to bed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yay, Matilda-- kill 'em with the cuteness overload!

She keeps saying it! Clearly because she's getting a positive reaction. But it's odd and cute the way she says it. Like she's pronouncing it phonetically, and Latvian is her first tongue.

But she's been ramping up with language lately. Going from single nouns and verbs that she clearly knows to combinations.

She also recognizes the letter "M" as being the first letter in her name and will say "Matilda" when she sees an M. She's also counting and seems to understand up to 1-2-3-4.

I don't know - Emmett was smart, but he wasn't doing this stuff before he was 2.
