Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I know I shouldn't make fun of other cultures, but....

Saudi religious police ban pet cats and dogs

RIYADH (AFP) - Saudi Arabia's religious police have announced a ban on selling cats and dogs as pets, or walking them in public in the Saudi capital, because of men using them as a means of making passes at women, an official said on Wednesday.

...

The reason behind reinforcing the edict now was a rising fashion among some men using pets in public "to make passes on women and disturb families," he said, without giving more details.

Othman said that the commission has instructed its offices in the capital to tell pet shops "to stop selling cats and dogs".

Ann, that's a ferret.

The mind reels, tommy. In so many directions at once. I would say, "Egad," but that doesn't seem strong enough.

I just got a call from the company telling me it was a mistake and they could not honor that price.

I once bought a used minivan from a Toyota dealership that was mispriced on the Internet. They didn't honor the exact price, but they came close and it was far under book value and the price they changed it to after I had already printed the ad.

Yay Juliebird!!

The cat came back / the very next day / The cat came back / They thought he wasn't gonna / But the cat came back / He's never gonna go awwwwaaaaayyyy!

Happy birthday, Shir!!

I'm soooo sleepy today. Worked both jobs on both Wednesday and Thursday, and didn't get home last night until 11:15. I didn't get here until 10:35 this morning--good thing that my morning task that gets done every day before 11:00 am didn't have too many documents that had to be processed, so I was done within ten minutes.

I am now debating if I should run over to Walmart on my lunch break and pick up a few necessary items (shower curtain and computer chair), or just wait until Sunday and go then.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Such good news, Juliebird! Enjoy your snuggles.

Allyson, that's fantastic. I admire your determination.

Happy Birthday to Shir!

And Happy Next Step to bon bon.

It's lunchtime and I'm still sleepy. In what world is this fair?

I dunno, but odds are you will be sleepier after lunch.

Thinking about a walk instead. Hard to walk and sleep at the same time. Well. Relatively difficult.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, all.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Good job, kitty! Stay!

Happy birthday, Shir!

It's payday! We had a squeek-by month, so it's good to have coffee money again.

Good news: Emmett's state championship game is tomorrow. We've already beaten two of the teams we might face, and we're in the winner's bracket in a double elimination tournament. That means if we win tomorrow, we're the champs. If we lose, we would have another chance to play on Sunday. Also, we're starting our best pitcher.

Bad news: my book deal fell apart. Small publisher and their last book didn't sell well and they're not in a place where they can sign a new contract. Fuck. So my tentative plan to temp half time, and write half time (which worked fairly well last year with the Tom Waits book, the Oxford American articles and some liner notes), has gone kaput. Also, I haven't even had temp work this month.

Feh. I probably have to go find a permanent job again.
