I hope Nilly had a party to go to
And hey, Nilly's parties includes napping! (at least lately).

Heh. I could use a napping party right about now. And not for any good reason!
There's time dilation as you get sucked into a black hole, so it could be already happening!
Next time a meeting or line seems to be going slower and slower, consider this possibility!

Well this morning is certainly moving pretty slow.
when is the black hole scheduled?
According to what I read, the first experiment that has the risk of creating black holes is scheduled to the beginning of 2009. This is just a test run.
Today they just launched protons one way around the collider, to make sure that...well, I don't know what. To make sure it worked? To make sure there were no bumps that made the protons trip?
Anyway, one-way protons don't smash into each other, so there's no danger of creating a black hole or other weirdness.
At some point, though, they'll launch protons opposite ways, towards each other, and then it's BLACK HOLE CITY BABY.
Also: www.hasthelhcdestroyedtheearth.com. Just in case no one could tell. (Also, look at the source code on that page -- it's v. amusing.)

That we know of!!!
Dun Don DUNNNNNN!!!
I ended up tivoing Fringe anyway, and I think if I keep watching, that's going to be the best thing for me, since I can fast forward through the gross parts. The stuff in the lab didn't bother me though--only the stuff before that.
I like Joshua Jackson a lot too- he's a cutie.
LHC Day!!

Yeah, they just made a complete circuit of the 17 miles of superconducting magnets. It's an amazingly complex and huge machine.
ION, I'm going to marry Garrison Keillor. [link]
Immediate destruction doesn't seem to be on the agenda, but who knows - maybe we'll get pulled into a black hole REALLLLLY SLOWWWWWWLLLLY.
I believe that if a black hole got created and if Hawking was wrong about Hawking radiation, it would still be so small that the Sun would engulf the Earth before it could gain enough mass to be a problem. Black holes with super teeny tiny mass would have ultra super teeny tiny gravity.
