I'm a mezzo which, thankfully, allows me a lot of Dusty. "I Only Wanna Be With You", "You Don't Own Me" and "Anyone Who Had a Heart" are particular faves.
There's always "Twist and Shout" for getting a crowd going in that Ferris Bueller back when Matthew Broderick wasn't such a pansy sort of way.

Burrell-- how about a women's shelter? A lot of times those women have to run out with nothing and so many of them seem to have babies.
I tried that with some of our baby stuff (not a breast pump, though) and found what Burrell said was sadly true. Outside of clothes and things, they don't want any equipment that might have been recalled, or didn't have all of the isntructions with it, etc.

If you aren't opening gifts -- there should be some sort of signal that tells people when the party is over. But as long as I don't have to play stupid games with strangers, I don't really care.
So, back to grammar. On NPR this morning I was listening to Janis Bell , the author of Clean, well-lighted Sentences. I am not one of the grammar geeks ( quel suprise!) around here.She was fascinating and very clear. She is pro serial comma ( though she acknowledges that others disagree) partly for clarity and ( and this was a new idea for me) partly because it gives equal weight to all of the items in a series.
I have a friend who always sends out her birthday party invites with "Seriously, no presents. They're bad for the environment" at the bottom. It really cuts down on the amount of unwanted gifts brought by people who think "no presents" means "but secretly yes please presents."
Burrell, I've had good luck passing on baby stuff to pregnant neighbors through our local Yahoo Group - I'm sure there's one (or several) in LA.

Question-- any of the educational types around here ever heard of the People to People exchange program? Abby's apparently been invited to travel to Australia next summer with other eligible 5th and 6th graders from the Jacksonville area.
The letter states that it's a program founded in 1956 by Dwight Eisenhower.
