You never know if a girl's gonna say 'yes', or if she's gonna laugh in your face and pull out your still-beating heart and crush it into the ground with her heel.

Speaking of trashy teen TV, Gossip Girl started off with a bang last night.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

It appears the Palin kids were told about all this after they arrived in Ohio on Friday.

That may be the most fucked-up part yet. "Hey, kids, we're gonna take a little detour to National Politics Land!!"

“Not dead yet!”

It appears the Palin kids were told about all this after they arrived in Ohio on Friday.

Whoa, what? Are you kidding me? The woman's about to take on a run for the second highest office in the country and they sprung it on their family after misleading them about the nature of a family trip?

That's completely fucked up.

There's some comments in the thing that this links to that suggest maybe it's not quite so clear cut (there may have been other programs funded), but apparently Palin may have line item vetoed funding for a state program for housing for teen moms. Loooooovely. Overall though I love what Dan Savage has to say here. He often rocks my world.

Our wings are not tired.

Okay, ugh. It appears the Palin kids were told about all this after they arrived in Ohio on Friday. They were originally told it was an anniversary trip for their parents. Given the daughter's situation, that's kind of fucked up.

That would explain why they looked so terrified and overwhelmed on that stage.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm watching. I'm interested enough that I'm watching the second hour, but I'm not sure I'll stay interested.

I just realized I could be watching Big Brother instead, so I guess I'll do that.

I read somewhere (which means it could be total bullshit) that the myspace page purporting to be the teen father was a fake.

Here's my thing. I don't want ANYONE making political hay from this. No one. You can hold your own personal views and opinions on how you take Palin and cast accordingly. Fine, whatever. I'm a big old judgy-judger myself. God knows I'm rolling my eyes mightily. But I'd rather it not be a goddamn media talking point. More important to me is that she is the antithesis, in her political beliefs and ideals, to mine and that of the dem. party (her private life I could give fuckall after the political.) THAT is the point.

I feel bad for her kids, facing this scrutiny, but that's neither here nor there when it comes to the political direction I want this country to take. Her choice. MY choice.

I'm fine with not talking about the details, but (to me) the whole thing is very relevant to how John McCain will lead and make decisions. Just as I said that I thought who (and how) Obama picked his VP was an important signal in who he might bring in to his administration.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

ION, I can't decide if I can actually deal with watching the new 90210 or not. So far I've half paid attention to part of the first hour.

But if you don't, who am I going to be able to talk to about it? (eta: other than Hil, of course)

Because books.

I'm watching it, Perkins. I ... have no idea why, but I am.
