May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Oh Trudy, he's a total conservative wingnut.

I take it back then, he would get elected.

I have 3 or 4 bags, depending how you count.

There's stuff I want to have available for just-in-case stuff at work, but that I don't necessarily need to have everywhere I go. So I always have something like a messenger bag (right now it's actually a Timbuk2 mini) for the water bottle & umbrella & Palm & notepad & checkbook & comb & sunglasses & bills to be mailed & a mini-pharmacy & whatever else. And then I have a small purse that fits inside and holds money & license & credit cards. I'm not sure if that counts as 1 or 2.

I have one "dressy" purse that is basically a small box on a chain, and therefore not very useful, but it was cute and cheap. I used it once when I went to a party, and expect to use maybe once a year.

And last winter I got this itty-bitty thing that can hold cash-lipstick-keys and can be buckled to a belt or something. Because there'd been a couple of times when I'd gone out to bars with Daniel and keeping track of where my purse was is super-annoying. So that's another one I expect to use very rarely, but it has its purpose.

My purse needs are entirely about size and organization. And about them being black, so that I do not have to care if they "match" whatever it is that a purse is supposed to match in whatever way it is supposed to do so, since apparently I was out the day that all the instructions about shoes and purses came down.

A young man travelling on a Greyhound bus was stabbed to death and beheaded by a stranger in a horrifying act of apparently random violence.
My friend Marcia and I have been talking about that all morning.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Stepping into tommyrot's traditional morning role for a moment:

Ridiculously cool: Hidden Van Gogh painting revealed--very likely, more on the way!

Oh Trudy, he's a total conservative wingnut.

And yet the total conservative wingnuts here in the US would cheerfully use Trudy's quote to paint him as the moonbattiest raving lefty who ever raved. It's enough to make you cry.

Thinking good thoughts for your brother, Allyson. Also mentally kicking your dad in the ass to run for a phone.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I have four or five purses that I hardly every use, and one that goes with me almost everywhere. It's black, and while it looks relatively small it holds as much as the ginormous purses I used to buy. I love it, and I'm sad that it was a $15 Kohl's purchase that will probably self-destruct before 2009.

In rather me-me-me news, I'm slightly bummed because the dealer up the road sold the last Honda Fit today, and as I wasn't planning to buy until tomorrow, I'm outta luck. He'll have the '09s in around the end of August, but I don't want to wait. So I'll be schlepping off to Burlington tonight (about 40 minutes away from me). I bitched about this to one of the IT guys, adding that it was very much a diamond-shoes-too-tight problem on a world scale, and I thought he'd bust a guy laughing at the phrasing. So that makes up for a little bit.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Thank GOD, Allyson. I'm sorry you and your family had to go through all this bullshit, but at least it ends here.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I really should get more purses. I have bigger bags that I don't really need anymore now that I'm not teaching. I really just need something big enough for wallet, keys, iPod, sunglasses, and work badge. Sometimes my heels. My lunch I usually carry separately.

I can't believe all the stuff that some of you carry around. I change bags every day so that would drive me crazy. Mostly, I keep a stock of stuff (umbrella, makeup, etc.) in my desk drawer at work. I would love to get to the point where I keep a few pairs of heels at work, so I don't have to bring those everyday either.

ETA: Yay Allyson!!!
