Oh, at first it was confusing. Just the idea of computers was like — whoa! I'm eleven hundred years old! I had trouble adjusting to the idea of Lutherans.

People later told me they thought I might have been pregnant when we got married, because there wasn't a super-long engagement. I think we got started talking about getting married in November, and got married in May, but I don't think people outside of us knew about it until maybe February or so. We actually got married in May because I was going to Greece for a year in the fall. I was sort of boggled that people would assume that since we didn't plan a wedding for 18 months and get married in a cathedral that I must be pregnant. Really, we are just low-key people!

Obama speaks:

Mr. Obama said the pregnancy “has no relevance to Governor Palin’s performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president.” He added that, “my mother had me when she was 18. How family deals with issues and teen-age children – that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics.”

“So,” he added, “I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories.”

sumi, Track Palin is in the Army National Guard and is scheduled to go to Iraq on September 11.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

How family deals with issues and teen-age children – that shouldn’t be the topic of our politics.

I will proudly wear the t-shirt that this man has promised to send me.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

That's so unwise. Puts his whole unit at risk. I understand that the kid signed up and all, but now that his mom is tapped as a VP candidate, they really ought to think twice about the deployment and put the kid on duty stateside. And no one should give the kid or his family any shit about it.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Prince Harry was able to serve in Afghanistan with a press embargo on his location etc until someone (Drudge, maybe?) broke the embargo, and then they pulled him out immediately.

Trust my rage

I love Obama. I like that he not only told people to shut up, but he kind of stood up for Bristol as well.

Go Obama. That was classy.

ION, I suck at home-computer repair. So tempted to just buy a new laptop and be done with it.

John McCain's younger son was in Iraq for a long stretch last year and this; the NYT deliberately didn't publish a photo or details, but he was there in Feb. when McCain clinched the nomination.

It all worries me. It just takes a jackass with a scoop and no brains to do some serious damage to a bunch of kids.
