I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Oh, it's "Beyond the Sea"! Scully's Dad/General Hammond! So sad, so good. Ah, X-Files, in a world of disappointing TV, in your best moments nothing can transcend you.

My brother bought the entire nine seasons a few weeks ago, thereby negating the need for me to do so. He's also come through in similar fashion on Blake's 7.

Oh! And he's very thoughtfully loaned me the first two Dexter books. (I have him covered for the DVDs.)

That's the box I have! It's a thing of glory and delight.

edit: I'm forcing myself not to jump ahead to Bad Blood and Jose Chung and First Person Shooter and and and . . .

And gosh this thing's shot gorgeously.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Vortex, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with you and your family.

And next, on mearaing...

Happy belated birthdays, meara and Jen K!

ita, I'm sorry for the job, and the head.

The status is NOT quo.

It would've been lovely, but I really didn't expect you to do anything except rest and recuperate.

Thanks for understanding. I was still feeling a bit off yesterday. Today is the first day that I've felt significantly better (I didn't even take pain meds today--whee!), but that also means it's the first day I've gotten any amount of work done in a week.

The tour was successful enough that they want me to repeat it. So sometime next year I'll do another one.

Excellent! Rain check, then.

ita, I didn't realize you'd lost your job. I'm so very sorry. I'm also sorry for your pain, as always. Last week when I was curled on the ER bed weeping with pain even after a double shot of Morphine, I thought about how often you are in that situation and got very angry at the universe for putting you in it. I wish I could do something. I know I've said it before, but please know that if you ever need help or a ride, I'm here. It's not much, but it's something, I suppose.

Kristin, how do you feel?

The status is NOT quo.

Shir, much better today, thank you. This is the first day I haven't had to take pain meds, which makes me very happy.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Kristin, I'm very glad to hear that.

Now, will somebody tell HUJI that if they told me that I can schedule my classes for this year starting TODAY, they supposed to enable that section in their site?

Because last year I had 4 classes that were on the same two hour slot, and that happened because I wasn't fast enough with the scheduling (and eh, also because that's what they offered?).

Ah, scheduling my freshman's schedule. Just shoot me now.

Also, this whole Gustav thing? You're in my thoughts. I can't even begin to imagine the "oh, shit" it probably is.

I apologize for being Jewish Mama, but could you please update on this, and if you're in the area that might get hit, if you're OK, OK? I don't trust the media updates we're getting here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thanks, Kristin. Your cyst problems have been horrible, and I'm glad that they seem to be coming to an end.

Me, I'm wondering why I have to be awake right now. Oh, my dear head. I can't get comfortable.
