Natter 60: Gone In 60 Seconds
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Ah, romance.
He tried hard to make it romantic. It was a fairly decent restaurant; however, FSU or UF game day in Florida is all out not matter where you are.
(I hope that, after that build-up, the Gators did in fact score.)
They did. As I remember, they won that day, too.
The woman responsible for my sanity my last semester of college just tracked me down (she would make sure I ate, took me out for liquid lunches when I got too cracked and then kidnapped me to an island resort off the coast of S.C. right after finals so I couldn't revise my thesis anymore.)
WHY do I lose touch with people? It's sad.
I just friend-requested two 13 year olds on facebook (I do actually know them and stuff). Man am I old.
FSU or UF game day in Florida is all out not matter where you are.
True dat.
I am going to experience my first SEC football home game this weekend. I live 2 miles from campus in a residential neighborhood and am told there are traffic jams on our street. I am ready for a world of WTF.
Ab fab: Guess the Swimmer?
Alain Bernard's tattoo. oh man! so much cheese. (is it bad that i knew most of those abs? i'm going with no. it's perfectly healthy.)
I am ready for a world of WTF.
Ain't nothin' like it-- college football is the One True Faith in the south. For as much as people went on about the traditions and the die-hard fans of the Big Ten when we lived in Ohio, we never really experienced anything like we had growing up and going to school in the south.
I married into a primarily Gator family and live in a very Gator-centric town, which, coupled with FSU's suckagetude the last several seasons, has been painful. Lewis has it easier-- he went to Vanderbilt. As he puts it, "Everyone loves us."
I am ready for a world of WTF.
I'm not sure you can be ready, particularly since the Bulldog Nation is rather giddy about being No. 1 in the AP poll.
As a fellow Vanderbilt alum, I'd say it's more accurate to say, "Nobody pays much attention to us." Knowing that your school can never compete is rather soothing, though. We don't inspire rivalry in anyone, except perhaps UT.
My favorite SEC bumper sticker, which is less true now than it was in the Bear Bryant era, said, "Start hating Alabama now. Avoid the fall rush."
My brother is at UAB. Shortly after he got there, he was making $$$ watching peoples' tailgate setups during the game (grilling, watching cable on flatscreens mounted on trucks and getting drunk while they were away, basically.) One day he calls my mom. "Who the hell is Bare Bryan?"
I didn't know either. My MOM knew. Which is hilarious if you know her. Football fan, she doesn't appear to be. (And isn't, not anymore, really.)
