It has been making me do it and has been driving me crazy all day.
I'm not glad to hear it, exactly, but I am now reassured that it's Yahoo being stupid. I'm familiar with that.
And hey, you guys don't have to agree with me that "please advise" is passive aggressive. Unfortunately, that's all the context I have for it as a person in tech support.
I sometimes use "advice please" to indicate that I'm not sure how to handle something (i.e., someone wants a huge amount of information RIGHT NOW ... and they aren't members or anyone I've had dealings with, but my boss may have offered them info).
What was the free jewelry site?
Please advise is kind of p/a in that it is unnecessarily formal and unspecific, IME, but I only get it from people who I don't supervise -- people I supervise would be specific about what they want. It depends on the workplace.
Also on the lexis thing, it is easy to accidentally run 25 searches in lexis's records, so that part doesn't faze me. Why she didn't run a search on the person's name by itself is a mystery, but not surprising given she was learning the software.
Re: Plants
Thanks to Bonny, Plei & Beverly for the input. I think between Devil's Ivy & Aspidistra, I'm going to have to plump for Aspidistra given that it's non-toxic for cats (though hopefully they shouldn't get anywhere near it, but still) and I'm not so sure I want to fight the Devil's Ivy for dominance of the room.
So, Plei, where should I go looking for an Aspidistra, then?
Ay dios mio. Something that is really not a big deal is about to become a slightly bigger deal, made bigger by the fact that I'm going to be out of the office at meetings tomorrow and Friday. Ugh!
It's just stupid. Six months ago, we did a report that I thought was inadequate, but no one came back on it. Now we're doing the same report again, but now my colleague is afraid it's inadequate this time. No one will come back on it! Let it go!
Whatever, it's fine. I'm mostly annoyed at myself for leaving it until the last minute.
Also, apparently some of the timed-release claratin I took this morning must have just kicked in, because I'm independently jittery all of a sudden.
