Thanks, Gadget_Girl! Also, good luck with testing your theory.
I want to read Nilly's diss
"Linked" is really good.
However, actually - I was wondering if it won't be too much, to post the abstract (um, once it's finished, of course, so only tomorrow) here, and ask for the most severe strict English editing possible (seeing as that's the first thing being read, and in some cases, the only one).
See, it's fun!
Actually, it's more "ok, how the fuck's this work?" Not that it stops me, but I've got a primal resistance thing happening.
Not too much at all, Nilly. And we won't even put any porn in. Most of us.
Thanks, Nilly. My students love it when I come "dressed" for work. (most are also BIG Jilli fans as well)
Absolutely, Nilly.
Thanks, you guys! I'll definitely do it then, tomorrow.
Oh, and speaking of facebook, they even have this application (I hope I linked right), which draws a graph of the connections between the friends of a certain user, and therefore creates a network with at least some of the characteristics we're talking about.
And facebook's application of "find people who are friends of your friends, because there's a high chance you know them yourself" - it has the same logic we're talking about, too.
How I wish I could put my hands on their data (they're not willing to share it, though - another student already asked). They have just the kind of network I'm simulating and studying from a theoretical point of view. It could be fascinated to check an actual network, with its structure and its development and the various sorts of dynamics that keep go on there.
And still, the one thing I like best about facebook, after finding old friends I was sorry I lost tough with, is the jigsaw puzzle application. One tracked minded me.

Heh. It's like how I always used to play Solitaire with cards while I watched TV, until I got a computer at home, and now I play Solitaire on the computer!
Jesse, you are a PIA. Lovingly said.
I just freaked out that I lost my pictures from last summer of visiting T&D. But no, I'd just not downloaded them off the old camera (which had died when I was visiting.) Whew.
Hey, I can watch tv on the 'puter now, can't I? FREAKY.
I can see it now...Vancouver Olympic Committee brings you Time Zones!
Hey, it's something China doesn't have. Which blows my mind.
