Buffy. When I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. Turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of 'apocalypse.'

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

(Because day 1 of eventing was Saturday and it started at 6:30 am.)

Yeah, with those hours, they might not have gone even if it were next door. Pageantry is one thing, but people tend to be very protective of their competition prep routines.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I knew it was Bugs Bunny, but I didn't know it was (more) literary on top of it. Kind of creepy, now, too. If what I remember of the fate of the little fuzzy things is correct.

Yeah, those old cartoons totally went there sometimes. Which is why they still rock so hard.

Hi Nilly! I'm moving next week so I'm up to eyeballs in boxes but, other than that, I'm okay. How are you?

Nilly - Aug 12, 2008 12:46:04 pm PDT #2902 of 10003
Swouncing

Oh, good luck with the move! I hope it will be quick and easy and minimal-stress-y.

How are you?

Sleepless and whiny.

I'm supposed to hand in my dissertation on Thursday. Well, I was supposed to hand it in two weeks ago, but my computer had so many troubles and malfunctions, that my supervisor managed to get me a sorely-needed extension. Which ends on Thursday. And, yes, the computer still hates me.

I can whine some more. I hope you're not sorry you asked.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

It may even be the point a person may describe himself as actually bilingual, no? Or at least one of the "big" point. When the precisely correct word, regardless of language, comes straight to mind?

I managed to speak English mixed with Arabic today (more like English using Arabic grammar). And no, not while using cuss* words (because I can cuss in one sentence, using only 4 words, in 4 languages. Grammatically correct in all, of course, otherwise it's no problem).

I was impressed with myself. That didn't happen in a while.

(Going to bed now. Came back from a show starved and adrenalined. Bed be good now).

(asterisk)Hey, the keys for spelling cuss are the keys to use to spell "lonely" in Hebrew. In the same order and everything! It's like "and" spells SMG.

Our wings are not tired.

Perhaps HK likes not being fully assimilated back into the mainland?

When I was there, nearly every person I came across made it absolutely clear to me that he or she did NOT consider himself or herself to be Chinese. It was clear that the distinction's important to them.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

because of Chinese quarantine restrictions on the horses being too much of a pain to deal with?? How weird is that?!?

In the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, the equestrian events took place in Sweden for this reason. (Well, the Australian quarantine restrictions, not the Chinese, but still.) Which is all fine, but now I'm wondering, why Sweden?

Canadia get its own team???

I still call it Bananada. Just for the Olympics.

Now I'm curious as to where Bananada would've entered the stadium in the opening ceremony.
