Swouncing

"If the world doesn't end, I'm going to need a note."

Yeah, only I don't wanna need the note, but to be able to actually hand in the thing! Then again, I was never a good Cordelia.

Sea of Gallilee

Thanks! I wonder why they don't just call it by its Hebrew name, though (or any variation of it).

Sounds good to me!

Yay! It's nice of you NYC-istas to give the rest of us the heads up.

[Edit: Gud, that's a great picture of a great dog! And I love the name, too.]

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I always knew the apocalypse would start in New York.

That's why property values are so high here. People who live here know that it will all be over with quickly.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Strangely enough, walking distance to the Apocalypse is something that rental agents hardly ever mention.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Does anyone have any good recommendations for somewhere in the far east where I can get cheapish accomodations and lolly gag on the beach for a week or two? Actually, I'll even mix it up with some sight-seeing.

My sister just got back from Boracay in the Phillipines and loved it. My guess is it's cheaper to get there from LA than from NYC.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

So I'm reading this article [link] about some college students who were kicked of the Semester at Sea program for plagiarism. And what's striking me about pretty much all the quotes from the students is that they seem to think that it's not plagiarism if it's not a direct quote. I remember, starting in at least ninth grade, if not earlier, lots and lots of lessons about how to cite a paraphrase, examples of what proper and improper citation was, and so on. Do other high schools not do that? (Based on some of the information given in this article about the students involved, I know it's not a rich school/poor school issue.)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

High schools do it. Colleges do it. All of them. Students decline to get it.

I remember that, too, Hil. In fact, I was so scared of accidentally plagiarising something, I cited almost everything, including things like "Albany is the capital city of NY). But from what I remember, they were really into "if you find the same thing in three sources, it is common knowledge and you do not need to footnote".
