You know, with the exception of one deadly and unpredictable midget, this girl is the smallest cargo I've ever had to transport. Yet by far the most troublesome. Does that seem right to you?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's 8:41 am in China, no?

10 -- they're 12 hours off Eastern US time.

I'd say that's a bad assumption. I don't want to know until I see it happen.

Then I am glad I whitefonted!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am trying hard to catch up on the night nbc coverage, but I am about 2 hours behind.

Does anyone else think that Bob Costas' hair looks like a piece? Or is that common knowledge?

I love the Olympics. Seriously. Just all the little stories, like Justin Spring, Olympic gymnast, son of an astronaut--talk about interesting family careers. And I love the feeling of the whole world focusing on something at the same time. It just feels very immediate, and community-like, and awesome.

ETA: Sorry, msbelle, I didn't notice Bob's hair. But the next time I see him, I will certainly check it out.

yeah, whitefont! I find it whacky that we are watching tomorrow right now on NBC.

I am alibelle. Makes me happy to watch the olympics. I just realized that I would never want N to be a gymnast. A diver, yes. A swimmer, absolutely. A field hockey player, sure. But not a gymnast.

I know, right? But after Nilly's story, I really want to see sunrise/sunset.

I wouldn't want to be a swimmer because, shallowly, the girl swimmers usually have funky-looking shoulders and not always the best hair. And there's many reasons why I sucked at gymnastics, but I still love it and think it's the most interesting sport. And didn't you do gymnastics too, Kat? Or did you just do tumbling stuff for cheering? I don't remember. Why wouldn't you want to be a gymnast?

Art Crawl!!!

I miss the "up close and personal" stuff - with the map and the zoom into the home town.

Nope. I competed in gymnastics for almost 10 years. Crapped out at Regionals. Quit after I was 16 and looking down on the beam thinking, "Why the FUCK am I up here?" I ended up winning State on Floor my last year which was my goal. But that was enough.

I think male gymnasts have weird and odd bodies. I wouldn't want the morphology for N. Really. I'd prefer that both my kids be pole vaulters!
