Fencing natter, part 2:
Becca's opponent Navarro (we're in the round of 32 now, btw) scratched with a dislocated shoulder. It looked like the kind of recurring injury that pops out on its own from time to time -- no impact, just popped it when she threw her arm back on a lunge. So Becca advances as expected, but doG does that ever suck for the other fencer.
(Mariel also advances, as does the top Chinese fencer Tan Xue, but they were all going at the same time. I'm shaking my fist at the gods of the elimination bracket for that bit of scheduling.)
Got lost in the athlete walk there. Mesmerising.
Jamaica!
::happy dance!::
Round of 16. Sada advances again. Looked off in the first half again, then pwned after a talking to from her romulan coach. Next up Becca v cute butch.
Hahahahah! we just got to the Bushes looking bored. I swear LB looked at her watch! If you are going to be bored, the march of nations isn't the time to do it. The rest of the program, sure.
You know, this wasn't as US-centric as some coverage I've seen in the past. Instead of occasionally showing a country in between insipid interviews with American athletes, I think they showed every single country. I wonder if that's NBC getting a clue or the Beijing officials controlling access?
Mariel advances too - 15-13. So all three are in the final 8.
I'm all weepy at the tribute to Jim McKay at the end of the broadcast.
Wow. Hungary's outfits? Just Wow. It made me think of this week's Project Runway!
