To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice, with pie.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

To be honest, I wasn't going to watch, but then I saw the pictures.

Dude, yes. I caught a bunch of the parade of nations stuff online this morning (which is REALLY LONG THIS YEAR), and the torch lighting (which is REALLY COOL THIS YEAR) but I missed all the cultural stuff in the photos and now I have to remember how to watch the live real-time kind of TV.

I mean, all those lit drums! SO FREAKING MANY PEOPLE!

This fast internet is dangerous. Tonight I downloaded GoogleEarth and have been playing with that. Plus some music, which I used to do sparingly because it was so slow.

“Not dead yet!”

I wanna know what the piece of music was that they used during the voice over that opened the telecast at 7:30. Very Carmina Burana/Mars in feel.

I love hearing the French announcements.

Still say the fireworks were nuts given the air quality. I read it was 92 with 62% humidity at the ceremonies.

I already hate the commentators. Always do.

Are they wearing high-top chucks with their long robe/coat things? That's so Doctor!

“Not dead yet!”

They're staying remarkably quiet, at least at this point. And I"d rather have Bob Costas than almost anyone else. (Says the figure skating fan who has to put up with Unca Dick.)

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Are they wearing high-top chucks with their long robe/coat things? That's so Doctor!

The silver ones were wearing silver Docs, which I promptly coveted the HELL out of. DO WANT.
